Active participation in a foreign scientific conference, the content of which is related to the focus of the doctoral thesis. The scientific conference must be organized by a university abroad and must include the scientific and organizing committee of the conference, as well as a professional guarantor. An anthology must be created from the event, which is reviewed by at least two reviewers.
By actively participating in a foreign scientific event, the doctoral student will acquire competencies of various natures. In addition to knowledge of planning and preparation of the paper, he demonstrates a high level of knowledge and ability to identify, evaluate and apply correct scientific methods as well as research methodology in the social sciences. By actively participating in a scientific conference, the doctoral student demonstrates a high degree of ability to identify and formulate a scientific problem. Can interpret a scientific problem using the latest theoretical and empirical knowledge and their critical comparison. Demonstrates the ability to communicate research results to a wider audience by adequate means through a foreign language.

The aim of this course is to acquaint doctoral students with prevention, crisis intervention as well as common personal and social characteristics of a person in a mental crisis.

The requirement for completing the course is the completion of education through consulting teaching in the range of min. 7 hours aimed at deepening knowledge about the process of diagnostics / assessment according to the syllabus of the course. Completion is also conditioned by the acquisition of practical skills in diagnostics through the development of a proposal for diagnostic procedures through objective assessment methods in the topic of the dissertation. After elaboration, the proposal is submitted and consulted with the teacher, who evaluates the adequacy of the methods used in the target group. The student obtains the evaluation after fulfilling the conditions of participation and after successful defense of the proposed diagnostic methods.

The aim of the dissertation examination is to demonstrate knowledge in the field. The student must demonstrate general knowledge of the sub-fields of the field. At the same time, he must demonstrate that his knowledge in the selected field corresponds to a deeper interest in the selected issue and therefore goes beyond the standard content and scope of the subjects of the given level of study. The chairman of the committee, the guarantor of the study programme, or the guarantor for the relevant field, will determine the literature that the student must study for the needs of the dissertation examination. The content of the course is based on selected psychological knowledge of cognitive psychology, psychology of emotions and motivation, personality psychology, developmental, social, educational psychology and health psychology. Interim evaluation: active participation in the lecture, which uses the broader legal basis for the implementation of social work and research activities in social work;
Final evaluation: Written paper in which the student identifies, can explain, organize and classify individual legal relationships using specific legal norms and apply them to the specific work of a social worker and research in social work. Can create a legal framework for the work of a social worker. The student is able to apply the legal norms used in social work to a specific concept of working with the client and his problem.

Knowledge
The student identifies and remembers the basic concepts and theoretical starting points of the given legal field. He has knowledge of the legal field of the field of study and interdisciplinary contexts at the level of synthesis. The student can describe the individual components and institutions of law, interpret them and briefly express them, summarize the procedural relationships existing in social work. Knows the basic characteristic and specific features of legal institutes in the given legal area. Can draw conclusions and name connections between individual legal institutes.
Skills
The student is able to search in legal norms and independently assess individual legal institutes. The student can describe, classify and classify the structure of individual legal approaches, individual characteristics and relationships in the processes of legal proceedings. The student knows how to choose and use an adequate legal standard for the assessment of individual legal institutes. He is able to identify the importance of legal and other standards when assessing the client's situation, in particular to provide advice in the given legal field. He knows how to use legal knowledge in the practice of social work and the development of his knowledge.
Competences
The student is able to use knowledge from law in the analysis and solution of a specific problem in social work. The student can provide basic legal information services and legal advisory services in the given legal field. He can professionally present his own opinions on legal problems in the field of social work. The student is able to perform professional activities in accordance with legal limits. He has professional communication skills and knows how to use professional terms established by legal standards. The student can work in professional teams and use interdisciplinary and interprofessional cooperation.

The result of the education is the demonstration of competence for the preparation of a monograph or chapters in a scientific monograph published in a domestic publishing house to a specified extent in a topic closely related to the topic of the dissertation.
By preparing and publishing a monograph, the student demonstrates a high degree of ability to identify, evaluate, apply and disseminate relevant scientific methods and methodologies in the field of study. Demonstrates the ability to find, define a scientific problem using scientific methods, their critical and creative application. Demonstrates competence to use appropriate theories and concepts in an innovative way, as well as to generate new original scientific knowledge, which can be published according to the established quality and ethical standards of the field.

Acquisition of pedagogical skills and presentation skills, the ability to lead an assigned group of students, especially through the assignment and evaluation of the fulfillment of set tasks, the provision of consulting and mentoring activities.
Through pedagogical activities, the doctoral student presents the competence to apply and integrate knowledge from their own field of study into education. He is able to select and apply appropriate teaching methods to the chosen topic, appropriate study group management strategies. Can postulate the goals of higher education and align them with the evaluation of learning outcomes. He is able to take a creative approach to the creation and implementation of units of the educational process in accordance with current trends in higher education and the requirements placed on the level of communication and digital competencies.

Demonstrates the ability to define and solve a scientific problem by using adequate scientific approaches and their critical application and evaluation. Demonstrates the competence to use adequate theories and concepts in an original creative way, as well as to generate new original scientific knowledge, which can be published in accordance with the fulfillment of high professional and ethical standards of the field in the Slovak language.

1. Theoretical paper with a link to the dissertation topic – 40 points
• theoretical definition of the concept of the meaning of life (e.g. existential, psychological, and social work approaches),
• analysis of the meaning of life in the context of a specific client group addressed in the student’s dissertation (e.g. oncology patients, NEET youth, people experiencing homelessness, families in crisis, persons with disabilities…),
• linkage to social work – the role of the social worker in supporting clients’ sense of meaning in life.
2. Proposal of an intervention / developmental project focused on supporting clients’ sense of meaning in life – 40 points
The student prepares a proposal for a project or programme that would:
• be designed for a specific client group from their dissertation,
• aim to strengthen or restore clients’ sense of meaning in life,
• be feasible within a social work setting (community centre, hospital, NGO, municipality, school…).
