Active participation in a domestic or international event related to the focus of the doctoral thesis. The event must have set both a scientific and organizing conference committee, as well as a qualified guarantor.
By attending a scientific conference, the doctoral student demonstrates a high degree of ability to identify, evaluate, and apply the correct scientific methods or research methodology in the political sciences. The student also demonstrates the ability to reflect on a scientific problem by using the latest approaches and applying them critically. The student additionally proves the competence to use existing theories and concepts in an innovative way, as well as to generate new original scientific knowledge and to communicate research results to a wider audience by adequate means and in more than one language.

Periodization and definition of socio-political thought, identification of the basic historical and content metamorphoses in the development of thinking about the state in the period of ancient Greece and Rome, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the Reformation, the Modern Age, the Enlightenment, Romanticism, the turn of the 19th and 20th century, the conceptualization of progressive and regressive characteristics of socio-political thought in the 20th century, the productivity of dichotomies in the history of political thought - the reality or illusion?
The PhD student will acquire and demonstrate a deep and scientifically based knowledge of the history of political theories. The student will demonstrate an understanding of and expertise in the field and will be able to use scholarly knowledge in this field at an interdisciplinary level and thus interpret selected scholarly problems. The student will be competent to formulate scientific problems in the history of political theories in a broader international context, solve them, communicate adequately and ultimately bring new original ideas to bear.

Presentation of the results of the dissertation, answering questions from opponents, answering questions from members of the examination commission.
The PhD student has demonstrated before the committee the ability and readiness for independent scientific and creative activity in the field of political science in accordance with the expectations of the relevant qualification framework and the profile of the graduate. The framework scope of the dissertation is set at 70-120 standard pages. The details are specified in Directive No 1 /2011 on the essential elements of theses and dissertations and the Study Regulations of UPJŠ In Košice for the 3rd degree of study. The thesis must meet the criteria of good research practice defined in the Rector's Decision No. 21/2021, which establishes the rules for assessing plagiarism at the University of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice and its components. The fulfilment of the criteria is verified in particular in the educational process and in the process of defence of the thesis. Failure to comply with them is grounds for initiating disciplinary proceedings.

The study-pedagogical and educational part of the studies ends with a dissertation examination. A doctoral student in full-time form of doctoral studies shall register for the dissertation examination not later than 18 months after the beginning of the studies, and a doctoral student in the part-time form not earlier than 24 months and not later than three years from the start of the studies. The doctoral candidate is obliged to submit, together with the application for the doctoral examination, the written thesis prepared for the dissertation examination. Consent for the doctoral dissertation to be carried out shall be conditional to obtaining at least 70 credits.
The doctoral student proved the prerequisites for successful continuation of the study by fulfilling the conditions prescribed by the study regulations for the study and scientific part of the doctoral study related to the topic of the dissertation.

The content of the course is based on selected psychological knowledge of cognitive psychology, psychology of emotions and motivation, personality psychology, developmental, social, educational psychology and health psychology. Teaching is realized by a combination of lectures with interactive, experiential methods, discussion, open communication with mutual respect, support of independence, activity and motivation of students. Syllabus: University teacher and his work in the teaching process with a focus on: teachers in relation to themselves (cognitive, personal, social and competencies in the use of methods), in relation to students and as part of the teacher-student relationship on the basis of selected areas of cognitive psychology, psychology of emotions and motivation, developmental psychology, social psychology, educational psychology and health psychology with application to the university environment
After completing the course, students will gain knowledge that allows them to understand, summarize and explain selected psychological knowledge from cognitive psychology, emotion and motivation psychology, personality psychology, developmental, social, educational psychology and health psychology. They will acquire skills to apply the above psychological knowledge necessary for the professional, competent performance of university teaching practice of doctoral students

By publishing a review or an article, the doctoral student demonstrates the ability to identify, evaluate and apply sound scientific methods or research methodology in political science based on
adequate knowledge of the current state of scientific knowledge of the field.
The workload of students is divided between:
- Individual consultations, which account for 30% of the student's workload
- Self-study, which accounts for 50% of the student's workload;

The PhD student will acquire and demonstrate a deep and scientifically grounded knowledge in the field of political theory. Demonstrate an understanding of and expertise in political theory and be able to use scientific knowledge in this field also at an interdisciplinary level and thus interpret selected scientific problems. The student will be competent to formulate scientific problems in political theory in a broader international context, to address them, to communicate them adequately and ultimately to bring new original ideas.
