The evaluation is based on the combination of a continuous assessment in practicals and a final examination test. The continuous assessment is performed during the study part of the semester using work on assignments (30%-share in total result). The credits will be awarded to a student who is successful in each evaluation segment at 50% success level (E grade).

Lectures: Introduction to geographic information systems – basic definitions and terms. Historical maps in the teritorry of Slovakia, their use in historical research. Principles of digital representation of teritorry in GIS (raster, vector format), coordinate systems. Large format scanners, scanning paper documents nad georeferencing. Collection of data using GPS, UAV, LiDAR. Creation of geo-tagged photographs and images. Basic principles of cartographic outputs - creation of thematic maps in GIS. Maps on the Internet, Google Maps, Google Earth, OpenStreetMaps, 3D city model. Practicals: Introduction and operations in ArcGIS software, working with files, attribute tables, import/export of data, definition of coordinate system, principles of visualisation of point, line and areal phenomena, creation of maps. Working with GPS instruments, UAV and terrestrial laser scanning. Processing digitised historical maps, creation of 3D city models.
This course introduces students to the principles and applications of geospatial technologies in collection of data and production of thematic maps for historical research. They will gain practical skills in using the equipment and softwares in digitalisation of documents including paper maps. They will become familiar with data collection methods using GPS/GNSS, UAV and laser scanning as well as production of digital thematic maps using ArcGIS software.

After completing the course, the doctoral student has the prerequisites to better manage research and write their own dissertation in terms of its structure, schedule and formal arrangements with the emphasis on the methodological and methodological aspects, and has a knowledge of directions and trends in the contemporary historiography. The student demonstrates deep knowledge of the theory and methodology of historical research, is able to comprehensively perceive socio-historical and interdisciplinary context, can read, analyze and interpret primary and secondary historical sources at the expert level, in several languages and using modern technologies, and formulate their own conclusions and bring original knowledge. Following this, the student is able to lead a cultural dialogue and an open discussion about historical research and its significance for today's society. He/she is able to understand resources and independently create and communicate a scientific text to the professional and general public. He/she knows and follows the principles of the scientific work ethics.

The dissertation verifies the ability and readiness for an independent scientific and creative activity in research in the field of study of Slovak history in accordance with the expectations of the relevant qualification framework and the profile of the graduate. The student demonstrates the ability and readiness for an independent theoretical and creative artistic activity, for solving theoretical and practical problems with an interdisciplinary approach, and for drawing a conclusion. The scope of the dissertation is set at 80 - 150 standard pages. Details are determined by Directive no. 1/2011 On the basic requirements for final theses, rigorous theses and habilitation theses, their publication and their availability during their retention of originality control valid for Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice and its affiliated bodies. The dissertation has the character of a scientific work. It is developed based on continuous research of the student and with the use of rich documentary material, as well as scientific methods. It must meet the criteria of a good research practice defined in the Rector's Decision no. 21/2021, which lays down the rules for assessing plagiarism at Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice and its affiliated bodies. Fulfillment of the criteria is verified mainly in the training process and in the process of the thesis defense. Failure to do so represents grounds for disciplinary action.

Define and apply basic didactic principles, methods, forms, and tools in the teaching process of university-level professional subjects. Identify and specify educational procedures of a university teacher aimed at effective teaching management, pedagogical diagnostics, and assessment of learning outcomes. Recognize different approaches to pedagogical evaluation and their impact on improving the quality of the educational process at the university level.
Skills
Implement effective educational methods and techniques into the teaching of professional subjects, tailored to the needs of university students. Conduct pedagogical diagnostics, assess students' progress, and apply appropriate evaluation methods to improve learning outcomes. Analyze and reflect on one's own teaching process, identify areas for improvement, and enhance the teaching of professional subjects, including the rationalization of the time and content structure of teaching. Present specific proposals for improving the teaching process, including the use of new technologies and innovative pedagogical approaches.

The content of the course is based on selected psychological knowledge of cognitive psychology, psychology of emotions and motivation, personality psychology, developmental, social, educational psychology and health psychology. Teaching is realized by a combination of lectures with interactive, experiential methods, discussion, open communication with mutual respect, support of independence, activity and motivation of students. Syllabus: University teacher and his work in the teaching process with a focus on: teachers in relation to themselves (cognitive, personal, social and competencies in the use of methods), in relation to students and as part of the teacher-student relationship on the basis of selected areas of cognitive psychology, psychology of emotions and motivation, developmental psychology, social psychology, educational psychology and health psychology with application to the university environment
After completing the course, students will gain knowledge that allows them to understand, summarize and explain selected psychological knowledge from cognitive psychology, emotion and motivation psychology, personality psychology, developmental, social, educational psychology and health psychology. They will acquire skills to apply the above psychological knowledge necessary for the professional, competent performance of university teaching practice of doctoral students

The student masters the performance standard. He or she is able to formulate scientific problems based on knowledge of historical categories, phenomena, events and processes. He or she can apply the knowledge gained from the auxiliary historical sciences in various situations. When working with primary and secondary sources, he or she is capable of a methodologically, methodically and ethically correct usage, verification and interpretation the acquired knowledge. He or she can structure the research results and formulate their own conclusions towards the topic of their own dissertation.

By participating in the scientific task, the doctoral student demonstrates a broad and well-founded scientific knowledge in his/her field of study, including knowledge of methodology and research approached. He/she is able to use the acquired knowledge for scientific research, which results in original ideas or procedures leading to new knowledge. He/she demonstrates a high degree of responsibility, critical thinking and autonomy in solving tasks, the ability to work in a team and to communicate with different groups of stakeholders.
