Preparation of the bachelor thesis in accordance with the specified learning outcomes and the university’s guidelines, based on the supervisor’s instructions, Directive No. 1/2011 on the essential requirements for final theses, rigorous theses, and habilitation theses, their publication and availability during the retention period, and originality check, applicable to Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice and its faculties, and Rector’s Decision No. 21/2021 on plagiarism.
While writing the bachelor thesis, the student demonstrates the ability to carry out independent and creative academic work. The thesis is completed independently, in accordance with the relevant internal regulations and guidelines.

Successful completion of the course is conditional upon meeting the requirements of continuous assessment in accordance with a predefined schedule. The instructor reserves the right to replace part of the instruction with self-study. Teaching, as well as the completion of individual assessment components, may take place either in person or online (via LMS, MS Teams), depending on the instructor’s decision.
Continuous assessment consists of the following components:
1. attendance – successful completion of the course requires a minimum attendance of 80% of the total instructional hours;
2. submission of an analysis of international research related to the topic of the final thesis and presentation of its extraction in a prescribed structure, in compliance with all requirements of oral presentation; the student identifies and classifies relevant research in the given field;
3. preparation and submission of two research questions and two hypotheses derived from them, thematically related to the final thesis;
4. preparation of at least two chapters of the theoretical part of the final thesis, confirmed by the thesis supervisor, at the required academic standard.
All assignments must be submitted via the LMS e-learning platform by the specified deadlines. In the case of unexcused absence (without a medical certificate) from a scheduled presentation, the student forfeits the opportunity to complete the presentation. The same applies if assignments are not submitted within the specified deadlines via the LMS.
If a submitted assignment does not meet the required quality standards, the instructor has the right to return it for revision. All assignments will be subject to originality checking through the APS Turnitin system, and the conditions for their acceptance may be adjusted based on the results of this check.
Successful completion of the course requires fulfilment of all the above-mentioned criteria. Failure to meet any of these criteria will result in the student being assessed as fail.

Completion of the course is conditional upon attendance at block sessions (a minimum of 80% participation is required), completion of 20 hours of volunteer work, and submission of a video presentation reflecting the student’s volunteer experience.
The block sessions will be delivered in person or online (via LMS or MS Teams), based on the decision of the course instructor. These sessions provide theoretical preparation for volunteer work, focusing particularly on understanding the importance of volunteering, identifying key concepts related to volunteering in social work, exploring various types and forms of volunteering, interpreting the Act on Volunteering, and navigating the ethical and practical aspects of volunteer engagement. Some sessions may take the form of discussions, excursions, or other activities requiring the student's participation. The instructor may decide to substitute part of the coursework with self-study.
Volunteer work must be completed in the scope of 20 hours within an organization or project approved by the course instructor, which cooperates with volunteers in the field of social services. To fulfill this requirement, students must submit a confirmation of completed volunteer work and present their experience through a video presentation (approximately 6 minutes) on a pre-agreed date.
Failure to meet any of the following requirements—attendance at block sessions, completion of volunteer work, or submission of the video presentation—will result in the student receiving the grade “not completed.”

Successful completion of the course is contingent upon fulfilling the requirements of both continuous and final assessment. A maximum of 100 points can be earned, with 50 points allocated to continuous assessment and 50 points to the final assessment. Instruction, as well as the completion of individual assessment components, will take place either in person or remotely (via LMS, MS Teams), at the discretion of the instructor.
Ongoing evaluation (max. 50 points):
1. presence at teaching activities (according to the method of teaching - full-time / distance via teleconference) - for admission to the exam, the participation of min. 80% of all teaching; while part of the teaching can take place in the form of discussions, excursions, etc., which are conditional on the student's participation;
2. continuous test – max. 15 points, with which the student is verified as interpreting, applying and being able to explain the theoretical starting points in the field of ethics;
3. presentation of a pre-assigned topic according to a predetermined schedule; the student chooses the form of presentation, with an emphasis on explaining the issue within the field of ethics in social work – max 20 points;
4. elaboration and submission of an assignment aimed at solving an ethical dilemma - max. 15 points.
Assignments must be submitted via the LMS e-learning portal by the deadline. If assignments are not submitted or submitted late, the student loses the opportunity to earn points. Through assignments, it will be verified how the student interprets, applies and can explain the theoretical principles of ethics in social work and on specific examples of work with a client.
A total score of 26 points from the ongoing evaluation is required for admission to the exam. In case of failure to meet the conditions (failure to obtain the required 26 points in the ongoing evaluation, or failure to meet the participation condition), the student will not be classified in the subject (rating X).
Final evaluation (max. 50 points):
Written exam, where it is possible to get a maximum of 50 points, of which the minimum number of points for awarding the assessment is 27. To pass the exam in advance (the last week of the semester at the time of the lecture), a score of min. 43 points from the ongoing evaluation. The written exam is to check the student's ability to interpret, apply and explain the acquired theoretical knowledge knowledge in the field of ethics in social work.
The final grade is the sum of the points from the ongoing evaluation and the completed final exam.

The subject is concluded with an exam. During the semester, the student will prepare and present a seminar paper on the assigned topic at the seminar. During the exam period, he/she will take a written knowledge test and an oral exam on the same day. To obtain an A grade, the student must obtain at least 91 points, to obtain a B grade, at least 81 points, to obtain a C grade, at least 71 points, to obtain a D grade, at least 61 points, to obtain an E grade, at least 51 points. A student who obtains a grade below 51 points will be evaluated with a grade of FX. Research preparation - research project, preparation of materials, presentation of results. Types of research: experiment, causal-comparative research, correlational research. Research methods: Questionnaire. Semantic differential. Sociometry.
Knowledge: Students will be able to understand the nature of scientific knowledge and the way to obtain knowledge through empirical research. They will know the steps of preparing empirical research such as choosing a topic, studying the literature, formulating research objectives, research questions and hypotheses, selecting research participants, preparing research variables.
Skills: Students will learn to establish hypotheses, operationalize variables and create clear research questions. Understanding different research designs (e.g. experimental, correlational, longitudinal) will enable them to effectively prepare and conduct research studies.
Competencies: Methodological preparation will enable students to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of research studies, assess the validity and reliability of data, thereby supporting the critical analysis of psychological findings. Students will learn how to proceed differently when selecting a sample for research and when collecting data through different research methods (e.g. mapping, experiments, observation...). They will gain the competence to prepare and assess research methods (questionnaire, semantic differential).

Successful completion of the course requires active participation in block meetings and the actual performance of professional practice in a specific, pre-assigned facility for a total of 30 hours.
Active participation in block meetings:
Information meeting at the beginning of the semester: The student is expected to identify and interpret the need for and importance of professional practice in a specific training facility. The facility is assigned to the student, who is introduced to its characteristics and the basic activities they will perform. The student also establishes contact with the person responsible for professional practice in the facility.
Supervision meeting, scheduled in advance after the completion of professional practice: The student summarizes, interprets, and reflects on the competencies acquired during the professional practice in the designated training facility. With the guidance of a supervisor, the student gains insight into their work, engages in self-reflection, and evaluates their experience. Participation in the supervision meeting is conditional upon completing at least 30 hours of professional practice in the assigned facility, which the student must verify with a certificate of completion.
The student must provide the instructor with a certificate confirming the completion of professional practice. Assessment will be granted upon attendance at the information meeting, completion of 30 hours of professional practice in the designated facility, and participation in the supervision meeting.
Final evaluation of the course in the form of: graduated / not completed.

Successful completion of the course requires the actual performance of professional practice in a specific, pre-assigned facility for a total of 30 hours and active participation in the block evaluation meeting.
Active participation in the block meeting:
Evaluation meeting (mid-May): Participation is conditional upon the completion of the full 30-hour professional practice in the training facility. The student presents and interprets the characteristics of the training facility, the target client group, and the activities carried out through a PowerPoint presentation. Additionally, the student submits a practice report, an evaluation of their performance from the person responsible for professional practice in the facility, and a certificate of completion of the practice.
The student must provide the instructor with a certificate confirming the completion of professional practice and a practice report. Assessment will be granted upon completion of 30 hours of professional practice in the designated facility and participation in the evaluation meeting.

Successful completion of the course requires active participation in block meetings and the completion of a professional internship in a specific, pre-assigned facility for a total of 40 hours.
Active participation in block meetings:
Information meeting – at the beginning of the semester, the student is expected to identify and interpret the need for and significance of the professional internship in the assigned training facility. The student is assigned a facility, becomes familiar with its characteristics and the basic activities they will perform, and establishes contact with the person responsible for supervising the internship.
Supervision meeting – a pre-scheduled session held after the completion of the internship. During this meeting, the student summarizes, interprets, and reflects on the competencies acquired through the internship experience. Under the guidance of a supervisor, the student gains perspective on their activities, engages in self-reflection, and critically evaluates their learning. Participation in the supervision meeting is conditional upon the completion of the 40-hour internship in the assigned facility, which the student must verify with an official certificate of completion.
The completion of the professional internship must be documented by submitting a certificate of completion to the course instructor. The final evaluation will be granted upon successful participation in the information meeting, completion of the 40-hour internship, and attendance at the supervision meeting.

The student understands principals of research data based prevention of risk behavior, can describe and explain the determinants of risk behavior as well as protective and risk factors for substance use. Understands and adequately interprets the theory explaining the background of substance and non-substance addictions.
The student is also able to state and classify the types and forms of prevention, strategies and approaches in prevention, can distinguish effective strategies from ineffective ones.
The student is able to apply the learned rules, procedures and competencies of the lecturer in the prevention of drug addiction in terms of working with a group in the context of the work of a social worker.

The student identifies and remembers the basic concepts and theoretical starting points of the given legal field. He has knowledge of the legal field of the field of study and interdisciplinary contexts at the level of synthesis. The student can describe the individual components and institutions of law, interpret them and briefly express them, summarize the procedural relationships existing in social work. Knows the basic characteristic and specific features of legal institutes in the given legal area. Can draw conclusions and name connections between individual legal institutes.
Skills
The student is able to search in legal norms and independently assess individual legal institutes. The student can describe, classify and classify the structure of individual legal approaches, individual characteristics and relationships in the processes of legal proceedings. The student knows how to choose and use an adequate legal standard for the assessment of individual legal institutes. He is able to identify the importance of legal and other standards when assessing the client's situation, in particular to provide advice in the given legal field. He knows how to use legal knowledge in the practice of social work and the development of his knowledge.

The student is able to use knowledge from law in the analysis and solution of a specific problem in social work. The student can provide basic legal information services and legal advisory services in the given legal field. He can professionally present his own opinions on legal problems in the field of social work. The student is able to perform professional activities in accordance with legal limits. He has professional communication skills and knows how to use professional terms established by legal standards. Ongoing evaluation
1. Min. 80% active participation in total teaching (full-time / distance, via teleconferencing). The student presents the basic knowledge associated with the importance of social prevention in the context of social pathology.
2. Independent training, work on assignments. The student presents the basic knowledge associated with the importance of social prevention in the context of social pathology.
3. Creation and presentation of seminar work, presented in word format and PowerPoint presentation format, in which the student describes, interprets, classifies knowledge about the importance of prevention in social work and applies knowledge through examples of existing prevention programs and activities.All entries will be reviewed by APS Turnitin and points may be adjusted based on the result of the originality check. In case of detection of plagiarism, the teacher will proceed according to the internal regulations of UPJŠ.
4. Planning and preparation of a preventive event/preventive events for high school students and other target groups in the scope of at least 10 hours.
Together for points 2, 3 and 4 it is possible to get a maximum of 20 points.
5. A continuous test in which the student identifies, remembers, describes and classifies the basic characteristics of social pathology as a starting point for defining the issues of social prevention, individual definitions, goals, determinants, functions, classifications, models, methods and activities of prevention; in the 13th week of the semester. It is possible to get a maximum of 20 points.
The minimum number of points required to admit a student to the exam is a total gain of 25 points from the continuous assessment.
The exam is realized in the form of a written test, for which it is possible to obtain 0-60 points. The student demonstrates the ability to apply theoretical knowledge in the field of social prevention to work with a client of social work.
The final evaluation consists of the sum of the continuous evaluation and the written exam (0-100 points).

The course is assessed on a pass / fail basis.
A student passes the course upon fulfilling all of the following requirements:
submits all required assignments by the specified deadlines via the LMS,
attends at least 80% of the scheduled class sessions,
meets the requirement of active participation, which is considered fulfilled if the student participates in at least 80% of the activities conducted during class sessions throughout the semester (e.g., discussions, group tasks, short applied exercises). Participation in activities is recorded on an ongoing basis during the semester.
Failure to meet any of the above requirements results in a fail grade.

The objective of this course is to develop students' professional competencies in assessment in social work through the analysis of real-life case studies from practice. The course focuses on the comprehensive evaluation of clients' life situations, identifying their needs and risks, and formulating professional recommendations for intervention. Emphasis is placed on the application of theoretical social work models to real situations, the ethical aspects of assessment, and decision-making processes in a multidisciplinary context.

The Bachelor Thesis Research Project builds upon the Bachelor Seminar. It will be conducted in block sessions, either in person or remotely (via MS Teams or LMS), depending on the instructor’s decision. The instructor also has the authority to determine which parts of the instruction may be substituted with independent preparation for course activities.
The research project aims to develop the skills necessary for the preparation and presentation of an independent research project as part of the bachelor thesis. Its essence lies in the student’s independent formulation of the bachelor thesis research project, including the identification of a research problem, definition of the research aim, methodologically sound formulation of research questions and hypotheses, and the design of appropriate methodological approaches and a research sample.
A prerequisite for successful completion of the course is the submission and presentation of the bachelor thesis research project before a committee, which will assess the student’s ability to comprehend, analyze, and apply acquired knowledge.

Students are able to independently design, present, and defend a research project, including the ability to justify their chosen methodology and interpret its potential contributions. They take into account ethical aspects of research and are able to reflect on feedback, incorporating suggestions from professionals or peers constructively. Teaching as well as passing individual parts of the assessment will take place according to the current situation, namely face-to-face or remotely (LMS, MS Teams).
Completion of the subject is subject to the fulfillment of the conditions of the ongoing evaluation as set out in advance the specified schedule. The teacher can decide to replace part of the study with self-study.
The ongoing evaluation consists of:
1. presence at teaching activities (according to the method of teaching - full-time / distance via teleconference) - for admission to the exam, the participation of min. 80% of all teaching;
2. submission of foreign research in the subject of the final thesis, and presentation of its extraction in the established structure, observing all the requisites of oral presentation, while the student identifies and classifies research in the given area;
3. preparation, elaboration, and submission of two research questions and two corresponding hypotheses related to the bachelor’s thesis topic; based on one of the hypotheses, students will subsequently submit an interpretation of results and discussion (within the agreed scope);
4. preparation and submission of a literary overview in the scope of 2 standard pages using at least 6 relevant sources, which will be correctly entered both in the text and in the list of bibliographic references. Literary review represents work with literature in the text and a list of bibliographic references. The student can differentiate between a quote and a paraphrase and can apply a citation system;
5. preparation, submission and presentation of the final thesis research project, when the student interprets theoretical knowledge in the field of methodology and subsequently applies it to the final thesis project.
Assignments must be submitted via the LMS e-learning portal by the deadline. In the event of an unexcused absence from the doctor at the designated presentation date, the student loses the opportunity to receive points for the presentation.In the event that the submitted assignment does not meet the required standards, the instructor reserves the right to return it for revision.
In order to successfully complete the subject, it is necessary to meet all the criteria mentioned. If the student does not fulfill some of the criteria, the subject will not be classified (rating X).
Final assessment of the subject in the form of: passed/failed.

The interim assessment consists of:
1. Intermediate paper - max. 15 points, which checks the student's ability to remember, identify, describe and classify the theoretical foundations of social pathology.
2. Elaboration, submission and presentation of preventive activity and ongoing tasks - according to a predetermined schedule - max. 35 points. The seminar work and assignments must be submitted via the LMS e-learning portal by the deadline. In case of failure to submit or delay in submitting the written form of the preventive activity and assignment, the student loses the opportunity to earn points. All entries will be reviewed by APS Turnitin and points may be adjusted based on the result of the originality check. Through seminar work (preventive activity) and assignments, the student describes, interprets and applies theoretical knowledge in the field of social pathology.
3. Attendance at classes - for admission to the exam, attendance is required min. 80% of the entire lesson.
In order to be admitted to the exam, a minimum of 26 points in the interim assessment is required. In case of failure to meet the conditions (failure to obtain the required 26 points in the interim evaluation, or failure to meet the participation condition), the student will not be classified in the subject (rating X).
To pass the exam in advance (the last week of the semester at the time of the lecture), a score of min. 40 points from the interim assessment.
Final evaluation:
A written exam where a maximum of 50 points can be obtained, of which the minimum number of points for awarding an assessment is 26. The written exam is intended to check the student's ability to identify, understand and apply the acquired knowledge in the field of social pathology.
The final grade is the sum of the points from the interim assessment and the completed final exam.

The mission of the course is to provide students with knowledge about socially undesirable phenomena, their causes and the possibilities of control and their prevention.
During the course, students focus on acquiring theoretical knowledge based on the sociological concept of social deviations, terminological issues associated with the identification of social problems and socio-pathological phenomena, as well as the various types of most frequently described social deviations that are associated with social work.
By completing the course students:
1. Knowledge:
Students understand and can identify key terms and concepts in the field of social pathology, including definitions such as norm, normality, social control, social anomie, and social deviation. They understand various theories explaining the emergence of deviant behavior.
Students distinguish between different types of social pathologies, are familiar with the theory of the emergence of social deviations, and comprehend the mechanisms leading to deviant behavior.
Students have an overview of the most common types of social deviations encountered in the context of social work, including aggression, criminality, pathological addictions, family pathology, prejudice, xenophobia, racism, extremism, and radicalization, and they understand their impact on individuals, groups, and communities.
2. Skills
Students are capable of basic analysis and interpretation of deviant behavior cases and assessing their relevance to social work. They can identify behavioral patterns and recognize indicators of social pathology.
Students effectively apply theoretical knowledge of social pathology in risk assessment and predicting the development of deviant behavior in clients.
3. Competencies
Students can independently identify the needs of clients with deviant behavior and propose appropriate forms of intervention within the framework of social work.
Students can effectively work in multidisciplinary teams to address problems related to social pathology.
Students are able to provide preventive activities aimed at preventing social pathological phenomena.

- All assignments are checked via Turnitin, which affects the final evaluation of the work during the semester. If the Turnitin check takes longer than the time allotted for feedback, the final grade will be subsequently adjusted according to the Turnitin result.
- Successfully complete a knowledge test (10%) – terminology – based on the lecture materials.
- Only students who achieve at least 50% in each partial assessment during the semester may proceed to the exam. If a student does not meet these criteria, they will be graded with an FX.
- If a student meets these criteria, they proceed to the exam during the examination period, which consists of a written preparation and a subsequent oral part. To successfully pass, it is necessary to achieve at least 50% of the grade.
- To complete the course, at least 80% attendance at seminars and 80% attendance at lectures is required.
- The overall course evaluation is determined as the average of the grade obtained during the semester and the exam.
- A = 100–90%; B = 89–80%; C = 79–70%; D = 69–60%; E = 59–50%. A student who obtains 49.99% or less will be graded FX.

A total of 26 points from the continuous assessment is required to be admitted to the exam. In case of non-fulfillment of conditions (failure to obtain the required 26 points in the continuous assessment, or non-fulfillment of the condition of participation), the student will not be classified from the subject (evaluation X).
Final rating:
Combined exam - written preparation (25 points), oral exam (25 points). To successfully pass the exam within one term, a profit of min. 13 points from each part of the combined exam. If this condition is not met, the student is graded FX. To pass the exam in the pre-term (last week of the semester at the time of the lecture) it is necessary to gain a min. 40 points from the ongoing evaluation.
The final grade is a combination of continuous assessment and a combined exam:

The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the field of social policy, both as an academic discipline through its basic characteristics, elements, and theoretical concepts, and, more importantly, as a practical activity applied by relevant institutions.
In the area of knowledge, upon completion of the course, students:
- are able to identify basic concepts specific to social policy as a scientific discipline,
understand the historical overview of the development of social policy and can classify individual measures based on their historical development,
- interpret the basic functions, objectives, and instruments of social policy, and are familiar with the main entities implementing social policy measures,
- are knowledgeable about and can distinguish between the main measures in the fields of social assistance, social care, social support, social security, and other areas of social policy practice valid in the Slovak Republic.
In the area of skills, students:
- are able to identify social policy measures applicable to solving individual problems of social work clients,
- can find an appropriate combination of social policy measures for specific client groups.
In the area of competencies, students:
- critically evaluate and reflect on the fairness and effectiveness of social policy measures and propose improvements,
- analyze the needs of social work clients in terms of social policy measures.

Continuous assessment:
1. Continuous assessment – max. 15 points, which verifies the student's ability to remember, identify, describe and classify the theoretical foundations of sociology.
2. Preparation, submission and presentation of seminar work and assignments – according to a predetermined schedule – max. 35 points. Seminar work and assignments must be submitted via the LMS e-learning portal by the deadline set for this purpose. In case of failure to submit or delay in submitting seminar work and assignments, the student loses the opportunity to earn points. All assignments will be reviewed by APS Turnitin and points may be adjusted based on the result of the originality check. Through seminar work and assignments, the student describes, interprets and applies theoretical knowledge in the field of sociology.
3. Attendance at classes – to be admitted to the exam, participation in at least 80% of the entire class is required.
To be admitted to the exam, a minimum of 26 points in the interim assessment is required. In case of failure to meet the conditions (failure to obtain the required 26 points in the interim assessment, or failure to meet the participation condition), the student will not be classified in the subject (grade X). To pass the exam in advance (last week of the semester during the lecture), a minimum of 40 points in the interim assessment is required.
Final assessment:
Written exam, where a maximum of 50 points can be obtained, of which the minimum number of points for awarding an assessment is 26. The written exam is intended to test the student's ability to identify, understand and apply the acquired knowledge in the field of sociology. The resulting grade is the sum of the points from the interim assessment and the completed final exam.

1. Knowledge
The student remembers the basic concepts, principles and theoretical frameworks of sociology, including the origin and essence of sociology, the development of sociological thinking and the subject of sociology. He distinguishes between different types of societies (traditional, modern, postmodern) and understands their social, cultural and structural characteristics. He knows the functions of culture and the components of culture, as well as various cultural phenomena and can explain how they influence people's attitudes and behavior. He can describe the social structure of society, including social groups, aggregates and crowds, and understands the principles of collective behavior. He is familiar with basic social institutions (education, health, politics, economics) and can explain their meaning and functioning in society. He understands the process of socialization in the context of the human life cycle and can use theoretical knowledge in the field of social work.
2. Skills
The student can understand sociological theories and concepts in the interpretation of social phenomena and problems. He/She can assess the impact of social structure, groups and institutions on individuals and communities, and can use his/her findings to assess the social situation of clients. He/She is able to critically evaluate various cultural phenomena and social groups (aggregate, crowd) in shaping collective behavior. He/She can take into account socialization processes within the human life cycle when designing and implementing social interventions. He/She can propose solutions to specific social problems, using sociological knowledge.
3. Competencies
The student is prepared to independently and critically apply theoretical knowledge from sociology to practical situations in social work. He/She can effectively design and implement interventions that take into account the social and cultural context of clients, including the diversity of society and the operation of social institutions. He/She uses a sociological perspective when assessing clients' needs, when searching for appropriate solutions and when critically evaluating cultural, social and institutional factors affecting individuals and communities. The instructor has the authority to determine which parts of the teaching may be replaced with independent student preparation for assigned activities.
Continuous assessment consists of the following:
Midterm written test – Maximum of 20 points. This test evaluates the student’s ability to recall, understand, and apply theoretical foundations of social work in the context of working with families.
Preparation, submission, and presentation of assignments – According to a predefined schedule, worth up to 30 points. Assignments must be submitted via the LMS e-learning platform by the specified deadlines. Failure to submit or late submission results in the loss of points for that particular assignment. All submissions will be checked using the Turnitin anti-plagiarism system, and scores may be adjusted based on the originality check results. Through these assignments, the student demonstrates the ability to describe, interpret, and apply theoretical knowledge in the area of social work with families.
Class attendance – A minimum of 80% attendance in both lectures and seminars is required to be admitted to the final exam.
To be eligible for the final exam, the student must obtain at least 26 points from continuous assessment and meet the attendance requirement. If these conditions are not met (i.e. the student does not obtain the required 26 points or fails to meet the attendance threshold), the student will not be classified in the course (grade “X”).
Early exam: Students may take the final exam during the last week of the semester (during the lecture slot) if they have obtained at least 40 points from continuous assessment.
Final evaluation:
The final exam is a written test worth a maximum of 50 points, with a minimum of 26 points required to pass. The exam assesses the student’s ability to recall, understand, and apply theoretical foundations of social work in the context of family work.

1. Knowledge
The graduate of the course can explain the basic legal regulations concerning the protection of families and children and understands how these norms influence procedures in social work. They are familiar with the specifics of child care within the family, understand the importance of parental roles, sibling relationships, and the role of grandparents, as well as the needs of children at various developmental stages. They are well-versed in the topic of family crisis, can describe its causes and consequences, and are aware of the potential psychosocial impacts of divorce or separation on both children and adults. Within social work procedures with families, the student knows how to recognize risk indicators and understands various methods of assessing and evaluating family situations. They clearly understand the essence of social intervention in families, which includes family preservation (sanation), counseling, therapy, networking, and family group conferences.
2. Skills
In practice, the graduate is able to use the legislative framework effectively in working with families to correctly identify situations requiring legal action while respecting the ethical principles of social work. They base their work with families on a comprehensive assessment of the family situation through interviews, observation, and the analysis of available documentation. They can also select appropriate approaches in family crisis situations, including divorce or separation, and facilitate support or cooperation with other professionals. When identifying at-risk family situations, they apply a systematic approach and utilize various tools of social work. They are capable of implementing counseling and family preservation in ways that strengthen parental competencies and improve family interaction, making use of family therapy methods and interdisciplinary collaboration (networking) with professionals to address family problems.
3. Competencies
Upon completing the course, the student acquires competencies that enable them to integrate legal requirements with practical procedures in social work while upholding ethical principles and considering the long-term well-being of the family. They are able to respond appropriately to different family forms, assess the level of risk, and determine the most suitable tools or forms of intervention for specific situations. In crisis situations or cases of divorce, they are capable of making decisions in line with the best interests of the child and the family as a whole. They can manage meetings, case conferences, or networking processes and coordinate the work of other professionals involved in the intervention. They take responsibility for their actions and their outcomes, evaluate the effectiveness of chosen methods, and make decisions aimed at improving the quality of life of clients in a family setting. Through this, they contribute to the effective practice of social work with families, focused on prevention, support, and the long-term sustainability of positive change.

According to the course schedule, students are required to prepare and deliver a presentation of their assignment with a duration of approximately 20 minutes.

The written assignment must be submitted in a length of 4–6 standard pages, including at least 3 foreign (non-domestic) academic sources, no later than one day before the presentation, via the LMS.
To pass the course assessment, students must obtain a minimum of 20 out of 30 points.
Students who do not reach 20 points will be graded FX and will not be allowed to proceed to the final exam.
Minimum attendance of 80% is required.

Continuous assessment:
1. Continuous assessment – max. 15 points, which verifies how the student remembers, identifies, describes and classifies the theoretical foundations of the sociology of the family.
2. Preparation, submission and presentation of assignments – according to a predetermined schedule – max. 35 points. Assignments must be submitted via the LMS e-learning portal by the deadline set for this purpose. In case of failure to submit or delay in submitting the seminar paper and assignments, the student loses the opportunity to earn points. All assignments will be reviewed by APS Turnitin and points may be adjusted based on the result of the originality check. Through the assignments, the student remembers, understands and applies theoretical knowledge in the field of sociology of the family.
3. Attendance at classes – to be admitted to the exam, participation in at least 80% of the entire class is required.
To be admitted to the exam, a minimum of 26 points in the continuous assessment is required. In case of failure to meet the conditions (failure to obtain the required 26 points in the interim assessment, or failure to meet the participation condition), the student will not be classified in the subject (evaluation X). To pass the exam in advance (last week of the semester during the lecture), a minimum of 40 points from the interim assessment is required.
Final assessment:
Written exam, where a maximum of 50 points can be obtained, of which the minimum number of points for awarding an assessment is 26. The written exam is intended to test the student's ability to remember, understand and apply the acquired knowledge in the field of family sociology. The resulting grade is the sum of points from the interim assessment and the completed final exam.
A - 100-91 points, B - 90-81 points, C - 80-71 points, D - 70-61 points, E - 60-52 points, FX - 51 points and less.
Teaching and completing individual parts of the continuous assessment will take place according to the current situation, either in person or remotely (Teams, LMS). It is up to the teacher to determine which part of the teaching can be replaced by independent preparation for activities.

1. Knowledge
The student understands the historical development of the family, from traditional forms to modern models, and recognizes the factors that have influenced this evolution. They can classify different types of families and forms of cohabitation and describe their key characteristics. The student understands the role of family roles in the social organization of the family and can explain how traditional gender expectations are shifting in the context of contemporary society. They can explain the main functions of the family and their significance for both the individual and society. The student understands the basic principles of socialization within the family environment and can distinguish between primary and secondary socialization. They are familiar with the concept of the family life cycle and can describe its main developmental stages. The student is knowledgeable about the issue of social pathologies within the family, can name their various forms, and understands their causes, manifestations, and consequences. They are also aware of the current challenges and trends facing the family in today’s globalized world.

The student can compare different types of families and forms of cohabitation, taking into account historical, cultural, and economic contexts. They are able to identify and interpret family roles and assess their dynamics within the social organization of the family. They apply knowledge about family functions when evaluating specific situations. The student analyzes and explains the processes of socialization, reflects on the family’s influence in shaping values, norms, and attitudes, and compares it with the influence of other social institutions. They can assess the different stages of the family life cycle and propose appropriate supportive or preventive interventions. The student is able to identify and interpret current challenges and trends in the family and incorporate them into the analysis of family relationships. They recognize forms of social pathology within families and are capable of assessing the level of risk to individual family members.
3. Competencies
The student is able to reflect on the development of family forms and integrate this knowledge into a comprehensive understanding of the family as a dynamic social institution. They demonstrate the ability to work with the concepts of family roles and family functions when designing appropriate social or counseling interventions. The student can independently and responsibly assess a family’s situation with regard to socialization processes and the family life cycle. They are able to respond actively to the evolving nature of the family and adjust their professional approaches accordingly. They acquire the ability to identify social pathologies within the family.

The aim of the course is to introduce students to the fundamental principles of scientific work in the field of social work, including formal requirements and methodological procedures for the preparation of a Student Scientific and Professional Activity (ŠVOČ) paper, as well as its presentation and defense before an expert committee.
1. Knowledge
Students are able to identify key concepts related to their chosen topic, describe and elaborate on them based on relevant academic sources in the form of a literature review. They understand the theoretical and methodological foundations necessary for preparing a research project, including the principles of descriptive and selected inductive statistical methods.
2. Skills
Students can apply methodological procedures in conducting their own research, classify collected data, evaluate its relevance, and interpret findings at a descriptive level. They are familiar with the formal requirements of a ŠVOČ paper and can apply them appropriately when writing and formatting their work.
3. Competencies
Students are capable of presenting their completed ŠVOČ paper before an expert committee and responding to feedback. They are able to summarize and briefly interpret the results of their research, connect them with practical aspects of social work, and defend their proposed solutions or recommendations for practice. Through this, they demonstrate the ability to effectively integrate knowledge from both methodological and theoretical perspectives.

Continuous assessment (with a total of up to 60 points):
At least 80% active participation in the total teaching time (depending on the mode of instruction – in-person / distance learning via teleconference). The student demonstrates basic knowledge related to the field of social work theory.
Independent professional preparation, work on assignments, and activity in seminars; the student demonstrates basic knowledge related to the field of social work theory. It is possible to obtain a maximum of 36 points in total.
Preparation and presentation of a seminar paper, submitted in Word format and as a PowerPoint presentation, with a minimum length of 3 A4 pages of continuous text, in which the student describes, interprets, classifies, and applies knowledge from a pre-determined area of social work theory. All assignments will be checked through APS Turnitin, and points may be adjusted based on the originality check results. It is possible to obtain a maximum of 8 points.
Mid-term test, in which the student identifies, recalls, describes, and classifies individual areas of social work theory; conducted in the 13th week of the semester. It is possible to obtain a maximum of 16 points.
To be admitted to the exam, the student must obtain a minimum of 35 points from the continuous assessment.
The exam is conducted in the form of a written test, for which 0–40 points can be obtained. The student demonstrates the ability to apply theoretical knowledge of social work theory to work with a social work client.
The final grade is the sum of the continuous assessment and the exam (i.e. 0–100 points).

Ongoing evaluation: 1. presence at teaching activities (according to the method of teaching - full-time / distance via teleconference) - for admission to the exam, the participation of min. 80% of all teaching; 2. independent training, activity in seminars focused on the application of acquired theoretical knowledge and skills through practical exercises aimed at understanding various theoretical and paradigmatic models of social work, including deepening knowledge about practice based on specific theoretical approaches - 20 points, 3. elaboration and submission of assignments aimed at a deeper connection of the overlap of theoretical knowledge into the methodology and practice of social work - 15 points, 4th continuous test aimed at verifying the understanding of the most commonly used theoretical models, the development of theories in various historical periods, paradigms and specific theories of their own social work - 15 points. A total of 26 points from the continuous assessment is required to be admitted to the exam. IN in case of non-fulfillment of conditions (failure to obtain the required 26 points in the continuous assessment, or non-fulfillment of the condition of participation), the student will not be classified from the subject (evaluation X). Final rating: Combined exam - written preparation (25 points), oral exam (25 points). For successful passing the exam within one term requires a profit of min. 13 points from each section combined test. If this condition is not met, the student is graded FX. The student is familiar with the principles and rules of university studies, including the fundamentals of academic life and the functioning of academic regulations. They are able to describe the basic principles of working with information and literature, including the ethical aspects of academic writing. The student has a good understanding of time management, study planning, and effective study habits. They understand the importance of self-care, can define the key principles of mental hygiene and a healthy lifestyle, and recognize the importance of stress management and resilience-building for long-term success.
2. Skills
The student is able to apply the rules and principles of academic life in daily practice, including effective communication with lecturers, peers, and the use of university support services. They are proficient in methods and tools for searching, processing, and critically evaluating relevant information sources, including the ability to correctly cite and paraphrase. The student is capable of selecting appropriate learning methods and organizing their time effectively. They can apply techniques to support mental well-being and stress management, recognize signs of burnout or overload, and utilize available support resources.
3. Competencies
The student is prepared to independently integrate academic and practical knowledge in addressing tasks and challenges associated with university studies. They take responsibility for adhering to academic regulations and university standards. The student demonstrates the ability to evaluate information sources, consider ethical aspects of working with literature, and produce academic texts in accordance with applicable standards. They focus on the long-term sustainability of their studies by developing effective learning habits, taking care of their well-being, and managing stressful situations. With developed resilience and personal management skills, they are able to respond flexibly to changes and demands in both academic and professional environments, thereby creating a foundation for successfully managing further academic and career challenges.

After successfully completing the discipline, students will gain:
Knowledge: they will acquire basic theoretical knowledge about developmental changes during the development of an individual.
Skills: they are able to identify and describe the essential characteristics of individual developmental periods (from the prenatal period, childhood, adolescence, adulthood to old age), they are able to implement the acquired knowledge into practice.
Competencies: within the seminars, students train the ability to independently and critically think about developmental processes and changes, difficulties in development, and to take a critical view of the topics discussed. The assessment is based on the pass/fail principle. To successfully complete the course, all three criteria must be met.
1. Active participation in teaching and experiential learning - the student participates in practical activities, discussions, case studies and model situations in which he/she practices the interpretation, application and explanation of the issues of self-knowledge. Emphasis is placed on experiential learning, during which the student directly experiences and subsequently reflects on the processes in the group, and receives feedback.
2. Preparation of a written self-reflection - the student processes his/her experiences and knowledge gained during the training into a written form by the deadline set for this purpose, in which he/she can understand, interpret and explain the processes experienced in the group. The aim is to analyze his/her own reactions, identify strengths and weaknesses in the area of self-knowledge.
3. Attendance at classes - the student must achieve at least 80% participation in seminars.
The subject is implemented through block teaching, which can take place according to current possibilities - either in person or remotely (e.g. MS Teams, LMS).

Completion of the course is assessed on a pass/fail basis. To receive a passing grade, the following requirements must be met:
1. Attendance at instructional activities – To be awarded a passing grade, at least 80% attendance at instructional activities is required. The course will be conducted in a block format on pre-announced dates, with the instruction divided into two full-day blocks.
2. Active participation in instructional activities – In addition to attendance, active participation in group processes is required. These activities aim to help students understand and develop the importance of verbal and nonverbal communication, reflect on their own communication strategies, address communication dilemmas, provide feedback, and more.
3. Completion and submission of a self-reflection focused on one’s own communication strategies in the areas of verbal and nonverbal communication within a group. The purpose of the self-reflection is to gain deeper awareness of both the strengths and weaknesses in students’ own communication.

Completion of the course is conditioned by the fulfillment of continuous and final conditions

Ongoing evaluation:
1. presence at teaching activities (according to the method of teaching - full-time / distance via teleconference) - for admission to the exam, the participation of min. 80% of all teaching;
2. independent active preparation for exercises - elaboration and submission of continuous assignments focused on verification of acquired statistical skills - identification of variables, elaboration of specific tabular, graphical and numerical descriptive characteristics (frequency tables, graphs, calculation of basic descriptive characteristics, calculation of selected statistical induction methods), interpretation of mathematical-statistical calculations - 35 p,
3. continuous test - aimed at verifying the acquired knowledge about statistical theory, practice, knowledge of variables and the use of some mathematical-statistical procedures, including the calculation of examples - 15 p.
A total of 26 points from the continuous assessment is required to be admitted to the exam. IN
in case of non-fulfillment of conditions (failure to obtain the required 26 points in the continuous assessment, or non-fulfillment of the condition of participation), the student will not be classified from the subject (evaluation X).
Final rating:
written exam (combination of theoretical and application part) - max. 50 points. The theoretical part of the exam focuses on verifying the acquired knowledge of statistical theory and practice. The application part is focused on the ability to distinguish and use the most common mathematical and statistical procedures, including identification of variables, implementation of all descriptive and selected inductive calculations, construction of graphical and tabular methods of statistics.
To successfully pass the exam, it is necessary to obtain from the written exam at one time min. 26 points. If this condition is not met, the student is graded FX.
To pass the exam in the pre-term (last week of the semester at the time of the lecture) it is necessary to gain a min. 40 points from the ongoing evaluation.
The final grade is a combination of continuous assessment and a combined exam:

B - 90-81 points
C - 80-71 points
D - 70-61 points
E - 60-51 points
