Selected projects

Project registration number and the name of the supporting organization: APVV-19-0284, The Slovak Research and Development Agency, The Slovak Research and Development Agency

Project title: Factors of selection and attainment of the long-term goals in the period of transition to adulthood

Project implementation period: 07/2020 – 06/2024

Project position: co-investigator

Project annotation: The main aim of the project is to examine the goal-oriented behavior and planning of the future of young people aged 20 to 30. The result should be the identification of long-term goals and the state of planning for development tasks. In view of the declared instability, as a characteristic of the development period under review, determine whether there is a change in goals, variability of goals characteristics and whether there is a delay in achieving development tasks for a later period. The aim is to identify dominant trends and the same time to explore their relationship to individual factors such as decision-making styles, personality traits and time perspectives. Results will be used in educational and training activities focused on self-development through learning developmentally adaptive goal setting and goal-achievement techniques.

Project title: Goals on Fire: Systematic Corroboration of the Role of Goal Striving in Work-Engagement and Burnout Symptoms Development

Project implementation period: 07/2024 – 06/2028

Project position: co-investigator

Project annotation: The intention is to systematically test the role of which goals an individual chooses and how they achieve them in the context of the development of burnout symptoms and work engagement. The hypothesized role of goal attainment within the development of burnout symptoms and work engagement will be elucidated with an emphasis on the hypothesized mechanisms (harmonious/obsessive passion) and broader contexts, situating them within the broader conceptual framework of the Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) model. The objectives of the project will be achieved through both qualitative and quantitative approaches through both cross-sectional and longitudinal studies.

Project registration number and the name of the supporting organization: VEGA1/0790/25, Scientific Grant Agency of the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic and the Slovak Academy of Sciences

Project title: The role of decision-making characteristics and work goals in the development of burnout and work engagement

Project implementation period: 01/2025 – 12/2028

Project position: co-investigator

Project annotation: Following on from completed projects devoted to burnout syndrome and the role of decision-making styles in achieving

goals, this project focuses on the role of selected decision-making characteristics and goal dimensions in

the development of two manifestations of work behavior—burnout and work engagement. The aim of the project is to determine

which decision-making characteristics (decision-making styles, attitudes toward uncertainty) and goal dimensions can be considered

factors contributing to the onset and development of burnout and work engagement. This goal will be achieved

through cross-sectional and longitudinal research, which will also allow for the monitoring of changes over time and, where applicable,

causal relationships. The results of the project will enable more precise targeting of interventions aimed at preventing

burnout and developing work engagement.
