Project leader KEGA 009UPJŠ-4/2020 Cursus Latinus - University textbooks for students of Latin project implementation period: 01/2020 - 12/2022 Annotation: The objective of this project is to prepare electronic versions of a university textbook and practice materials with the aim of innovating and improving the effectiveness of teaching Latin to students taking the Latin language study course at the Faculty of Arts. The output from this project is expected to be a set of innovated teaching materials which can replace the older, in many cases Czech-based textbooks and practice materials used to date. With regard to their content, the new teaching texts will be supplemented with the latest insights from philological research, and their graphical form is intended to mediate the content in a more intelligible and attractive manner. At the same time the new teaching materials aim to compensate for the negative influence of the lack of linguistic preparation due to the insufficient provision of lessons in secondary schools by enabling students to engage in independent home study with effective, direct feedback in the form of exercises supplied with a key, and by means of related online tests. |
Project leader KEGA 010UPJŠ-4/2017 Latin language for students of the Faculty of Arts project implementation period: 01/2017 - 12/2019 Annotation: The project is aimed at modernizing and streamlining the teaching of the Latin language and its integration into the focus units of study programs that have Latin in their program, i.e. history, philosophy and philological combinations (Slovak, English, German). The result of the project is a modern edition of didactic resources focused on education in the given programs. The specific task of the project was to prepare textbooks of classical languages for the subjects of the Faculty of Arts. These programs have different hours dotation, different goals and focus, so on the one hand the project uses a common philological basis in the preparation, but on the other hand it reflects the different goals. The result are Latin language textbooks for students of history, philosophy ane philology. |
Researcher of the project VEGA 1/0257/20 The concept of woman heroine in the medieval exegetic literature project implementation period: 01/2020 - 12/2022 Annotation: The aim of this scientific project consists in the study of the medieval interpretation of the woman heroine concept, which leaves the gender stereotypes by her courage and will, crosses over her social status and influences the history. The analysis issues from the study of the selective exegetical texts and the medieval latin authors, which participated by their interpretations on the creation of the image of the strong woman capable to change her destiny and destiny of her family. The result of the project will be the publication of the several studies concerning the detailed analysis of the archetypes of the biblical women and finally the publication of the monograph focusing on the different views of the woman status and role in the medieval exegetical literature reflecting the social situation of the time. At the same time the monograph provides the presentation of the development of the relationship of the society toward woman, who finally finds there her stable position. |
Researcher of the project VEGA 1/0061/17 Slovacia orientalis litterata. Latin literature of authors connected with eastern Slovakia project implementation period: 01/2017 - 12/2019 Annotation: The aim of the project was to make available works by authors connected with eastern Slovakia by origin or working, both by little known authors (Ján Jambor of Rožňava, 15th century, Ján Gregor Macer Szepsius from Moldava nad Bodvou, 16th century), and by accessing less known works of known authors (Ján Bocatius, 16th-17th century, Samuel Spillenberger, 16th-17th century). A Latin text, a commentary on it, a theoretical study of the work were published in the published works, and the accompanying result is also a translation of these texts. |
Researcher of the project VEGA 1/0627/15 Latin humanistic literature in Slovakia in the context of political propaganda project implementation period: 01/2015 - 12/2017 Annotation: The aim of the submitted project and the team of researchers of the Department of Classical and Semitic Philology and the Department of Slovak Literature and Literary Studies of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Charles University was to find a more accurate answer to the question of how the verbal art of Latin humanism was connected with practical political life. The preferred focus on research in Latin literature is based on the finding that Latin literature was the main, if not the exclusive, topic for societal important topics. Although the connection between public affairs and political life and literary work is an indisputable fact in the scale of world Mediterranean literature and can be substantiated, the specific manifestations of this phenomenon in Latin writings in Hungary and in specie in Slovakia had not been systematically researched and presented. |
