Prof. PaedDr. Martin Pekár, Ph.D. is a professor of Slovak history, head of the Department of History at the UPJŠ Faculty of Arts in Košice. His research focuses mainly on the political and social history of Slovakia in the 20th century, urban history and the history of the Holocaust. He also focuses on the above-mentioned areas in his teaching activities. From 2016 to 2021 he led the prestigious EC-H2020-MSCA-ITN History of European Urbanism in the 20th Century project. In 2019-2023 he served as UPJŠ Vice-Rector for Higher Education, Academic Ceremonies and Traditions.
