Project registration number and the name of the supporting organization: APVV 14-0921, The Slovak Research and Development Agency Project title: Self-care as a factor of coping with the negative consequences of the practicing the helping professions Project implementation period: 07/2015 – 06/2019 Project position: co-investigator Project annotation: The basic objective of the project is to verify the assumption that the self-care is a predictor of experienced negative consequences of the practicing the helping professions. To this end, a follow-up verification of the possibility of eliminating the negative effects of the practicing the helping professions by means of change in self-care of people engaged in helping professions. Part of the verification of the hypothesis is the revealing the current state of self-care in people doing helping professions in social care, as well as the simultaneous occurrence of negative consequences of the practicing the helping professions such as experiencing stress, burnout, vicarious trauma, and dissatisfaction with their work. The results will be validated questionnaires for self-care in helping professions, the acquisition of knowledge regarding these issues and construction of intervention programs aimed to change the self-care and the eliminating the negative effects of the practicing the helping professions. Intervention programs will be provided to welfare facilities. |
Project registration number and the name of the supporting organization: APVV-19-0284, The Slovak Research and Development Agency Project title: Factors of selection and attainment of the long-term goals in the period of transition to adulthood Project implementation period: 07/2020 – 06/2024 Project position: co-investigator Project annotation: The main aim of the project is to examine the goal-oriented behavior and planning of the future of young people aged 20 to 30. The result should be the identification of long-term goals and the state of planning for development tasks. In view of the declared instability, as a characteristic of the development period under review, determine whether there is a change in goals, variability of goals characteristics and whether there is a delay in achieving development tasks for a later period. The aim is to identify dominant trends and the same time to explore their relationship to individual factors such as decision-making styles, personality traits and time perspectives. Results will be used in educational and training activities focused on self-development through learning developmentally adaptive goal setting and goal-achievement techniques. |
Project registration number and the name of the supporting organization: VEGA 1/0853/21, Scientific Grant Agency of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak republic and Slovak Academy Of Science Project title: Specifics of the transition to adulthood in the context of goals and selected personality variables and their impact on the subjective well-being of young adults Project implementation period: 01/2021 - 12/2024 Project position: principal investigator deputy Project annotation: The aim of the presented project is to examine the specific features of the period of transition to adulthood, in terms of personal goals and goal-oriented behavior. The project builds on the successfully completed project VEGA Processes of self-regulation in achieving distal goals and use the acquired knowledge about the role of target characteristics (importance, achievability, target progress and motivation) in the process of forming personal goals in specific conditions of emerging adulthood. With regard to current trends in research, the aim of the project is to examine the links between personal goals and identity formation and selected individual characteristics of young people (optimism, hope, intolerance of uncertainty) and to clarify their impact on subjective well-being. These project goals will be pursued through cross-sectional and longitudinal research, which also allows for monitoring of developmental changes. |
Project registration number and the name of the supporting organization: KEGA 023UPJŠ-4/2021, Cultural and Educational Grant Agency of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak republic Project title: New approaches in educational psychology in psychologist education Project implementation period: 01/2021-12/2023 Project position: co-investigator Project annotation: The project focuses on the innovation of content, curricula and the creation of textbooks from the subject of educational psychology for the target group of students of psychology and professionals working in the educational environment. The lack of up-to-date textbook literature accessible to students in the field of educational psychology, as well as the efforts of the solvers to innovate the content of undergraduate education in the psychology study program and bring it closer to the needs of practice are the main reasons for project creation. Based on research data on the key thematic areas represented in research studies in the field of educational psychology, as well as on the analysis of relevant textbooks and the specification of the needs of psychological knowledge by management and counselling staff working in institutions in the educational environment and experimental verification, the syllabus of educational psychology, teaching methods and teaching materials for the subject of educational psychology study will be updated. The output will be textbooks and study materials reflecting the degree of knowledge in the relevant field. |
Project registration number and the name of the supporting organization: APVV-23-0548, The Slovak Research and Development Agency Project title: Goals on Fire: Systematic Corroboration of the Role of Goal Striving in Work-Engagement and Burnout Symptoms Development Project implementation period: 07/2024-06/2028 Project position: co-investigator Project annotation: Burnout and work engagement have important implications for individuals, organizations, and society. A deeper understanding of the processes behind their development is becoming more critical than ever. However, the attention to the individual level of analysis and underlying motivational processes in research is still limited and often unsystematic. Based on current research that indicates a potentially important role of motivation and drawing on a well-established line of research dedicated to goal-directed behavior, we aim to systematically examine the role of the goals people choose and strive for in the development of burnout symptoms and work engagement. In the initial stage of the project, we plan to examine the relationship between goal attainment and the symptoms of burnout and work engagement from a qualitative and quantitative perspective. It is hypothesized that an individual’s goals (and selected goal dimensions) are closely related to the level of work engagement/burnout symptoms. The subsequent phase will further elucidate the processes behind this relationship. In particular, the role of goal attainment in the development of burnout symptoms and work engagement will be examined with an emphasis on the hypothesized mechanisms (obsessive and harmonious passion), situating it within the conceptual framework of the Job Demands-Resource model (JD-R). In the following phase, we will longitudinally examine how the investigated variables evolve and interact over time. Finally, the acquired knowledge will be applied to prepare a monograph, a workshop, and a practical handbook. We will make the data available to other researchers interested in studying this topic as part of open science practices. |
