The project registration number and the full name of the organisation that awarded the grant: APVV 20-0334, Slovak Research and Development Agency Name of the project: "This is Not True, but it Could Be": Conspiracy Theories and Hoaxes in the Modern Development of Slovakia in the European Context Project implementation period: 07/21-06/25 Status in the project: Co-researcher Brief characteristics of the project: Conspiracy theories and hoaxes are far from having the character of an innocent disruptive elements of the farright or ultra-left scene. They both are also a serious security threat - they are an imaginary detonator of social tension, have the potential to lead to fundamental polarization and radicalization of society, which can grow into deep internal social conflicts, violence, ethnic cleansing, genocide or even civil wars and the disruption of social consensus (i.e. existing state borders, a new geopolitical reorganization of the world, etc.). This broad-spectrum dimension, stimulated a team of 25 experts in history, political science, ethnology, religion and security studies from three Slovak universities (UMB Banská Bystrica, UKF Nitra, UPJŠ Košice), two university-type academies (AOS Liptovský Mikuláš, APZ Bratislava) and two Slovak Academy of Sciences institutes (Institute of Political Science, Institute of Ethnology and Social Anthropology) to create a joint project platform and try to seek for a new perspective and a new contextualization of their significance. Project's ambition is to analyze the history of conspiracy theories and hoaxes in Slovakia in European context from 1918 to nowadays as well as the attempt to symbolically “bridge” past and present which has an aspiration to analytically contribute to discussion of one of the most discussed phenomenon of the 21st Century. The project registration number and the full name of the organisation that awarded the grant: VEGA 1/0321/21, Scientific Grant Agency of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic and Slovak Academy of Sciences Name of the project: Instrumentalisation of Historical Events as a Subject of Recodification Schemes in Political and Propaganda Practice in Slovakia after 1989 (Selected Aspects of Ethnic Relations) Project implementation period: 01/25-12/27 Status in the project: Co-researcher Brief characteristics of the project: The aim of the project is to carry out political science and historical research on the instrumentalisation of selected historical events with a focus on some aspects of ethnic relations in Slovakia. We will investigate their use as a tool of politics (governmental, party, regional) in political and propaganda practice in Slovakia after 1989. In particular, the researchers will examine the interpretation of historical events in the context of significant events in domestic (elections, changes of governments, ethnic political parties) and foreign politics (Slovakia's accession to the EU and NATO, the war in Ukraine). The research team will examine the way in which these historical events are instrumentalised, commemorated and used in politics (governmental, party, regional) and the role played by the interpretation of historical events and their commemoration (monuments and memorials, public rallies, political conflicts). |
The project registration number and the full name of the organisation that awarded the grant: KEGA 014UPJŠ-4/2025, Cultural and Educational Grant Agency of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic Name of the project: Internationalisation, Innovation and Modernisation of a Modular Education in Political Science Obdobie realizácie projektu: 01/25-12/27 Status in the project: Co-researcher Stručná charakteristika projektu: The main goal of the project is to internationalise, innovate and modernise the education in political science at the Faculty of Arts of UPJŠ and in order to adapt to the new forms of teaching- to at the same time complement the classical forms of teaching with new educational approaches. The aim of the project is to reform the teaching process (both the content itself and the ways of teaching) of the study programme in political science, which, through the module Theory of Politics and the newly created module International Relations within the Bachelor's and Master's degree programme, allows students to focus on a more narrowly defined area of political science research through the selection of classes within the module. The goal is thus to modernise the teaching of political science using interactive and e-learning tools, but also to prepare new electronic educational tools, such as textbooks for selected classes, which are offered to students within the newly created module International Relations. The aim of the project is also the internationalization of an education process by lectures of foreign and domestic experts, that will offer new knowledge and skills to students. The aim of the project is also to modernise the teaching of Erasmus students/foreign students using interactive and e-learning tools, as well as the preparation of electronic educational tool - a teaching text for Erasmus students/foreign students. The experience of the project researchers in solving problems and preparing textbooks within the KEGA, RIFIV and IRES projects is a guarantee of the fulfilment of the project objectives and success. |
The project registration number and the full name of the organisation that awarded the grant: VEGA No. 1/0321/21, Scientific Grant Agency of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic and the Slovak Academy of Sciences Name of the project: Research on correlations between distortions of political consciousness and the increase of political extremism among secondary school students in the Košice and Prešov self-governing regions Project implementation period: 01/21-12/23 Project status: Co-researcher Brief characteristics of the project: The project offers an investigation of the correlations between the distortions of political consciousness and the rise of political extremism among young people in the Košice and Prešov regions, coupled with proposals for measures to eliminate them. The methodological basis of the research will be the stages of political consciousness, which have been theoretically elaborated by Professor Marcela Gbúrová in some of her studies. The project should be a continuation of the research on secondary illiteracy in the Slovak Republic carried out between 2016 and 2018 (VEGA No. 1/0658/16), in the framework of which the concept of individual stages of political consciousness (insitic, instructed, professional, theoretical) was introduced in more detail. |
