Prof. MUDr. Daniel Pella , PhD. is the head of 2nd Department of Cardiology UPJŠ FM and ESICD a.s. and the general director of the SLOVACRIN . For two terms he served as Vice-Dean for International Relations and Studies in the English Language, where he significantly influenced the internationalization of UPJŠ Faculty of Medicine and since 2014 to 2022 had headed it as Dean faculty of Medicine UPJŠ in Košice. In 2023 he was elected Rector UPJŠ in Košice. The dominant feature of his professional focus is non-interventional cardiology, especially the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. He has been working as a university teacher for almost 30 years, but at the same time he is intensively involved in international clinical scientific research, the aim of which is to introduce new drugs into everyday medical practice. He was the president of the International College of Nutrition and the Slovak Atherosclerosis Association. He is a member of the scientific councils of all Slovak medical faculties, a member of the Council for the Support of Biomedical Research Development of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic and the Scientific Council of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic. He is a member of the editorial boards of several Slovak and foreign magazines. For several years he has been involved in the creation of recommendations of the European Society of Cardiology (the only representative from the Slovak Republic) for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Participates in the solution of several scientific projects basic and applied research. He is the author or co-author of more than 200 original scientific papers (of which more than 100 CC / WoS / Scopus) published mainly in foreign journals, which were cited more than 3,900 times in WoS / Scopus citation indexes.
