MUDr. Gabriel Koľvek, PhD. is a pediatrician subspecialising in the field of pediatric nephrology and an Assistant professor at the Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, Faculty of Medicine of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice. His research activities are engaged in clinical research on kidney diseases in the pediatric population. In 2012, he successfully defended his dissertation thesis in the field of epidemiology of kidney diseases at the University of Groningen, The Netherlands (“double degree“ Groningen - Košice). He is the author or co-author of 75 original scientific (13 CC, WoS or Scopus) and research papers published in foreign and domestic journals as well as teaching texts, which were cited 89 times in the WoS / Scopus citation database. He participates in teaching of pediatrics at the undergraduate level in the study program general medicine, dentistry as well as public health and is also a lecturer in the theoretical and practical part of the pediatric specialisation program. He supervised 2 successfully defended diploma theses. Doctor Kolvek was awared several awards of Slovak Paediatric Society and Slovak Society of Nephrology for research of kidney diseases in children.
