RNDr. Ivana Spakova, PhD. has been working as an assistant professor at the Department of Medical and Clinical Biochemistry, Faculty of Medicine, UPJŠ in Košice since 2020, in the previous years 2017-2020 as a researcher. After completing her university studies in the Biochemistry study program in 2013, she began her doctoral studies in Clinical Biochemistry at the UPJŠ Faculty of Medicine, where she completed a study stay in a working group focused on molecular biochemistry in 2016 (Prof. Dr. Ondrej Slabý, PhD.) at CEITEC in the Czech Republic and in 2017 a study visit to a working group focused on live imaging (Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Graier, PhD.) at the Medical University of Graz in Austria. After successfully defending her dissertation, she obtained a PhD. in 2017. As part of his research activities, he studies short non-coding nucleic acids and their role in the regulation of gene expression, mitochondrial metabolism and the genome. Since 2013, she has been a co-investigator of VEGA and APVV projects and co-author of 12 original scientific papers published in CC journals (Scopus, HI = 4).
