Jakub Gazda completed his graduate studies in General Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice in 2018 with distinction. He subsequently completed his PhD studies at the same faculty, focusing on autoimmune liver diseases, and was awarded the PhD degree in 2022. In the following years, he obtained board certification in Internal Medicine (2024) and concurrently engaged in research focused on the application of artificial intelligence algorithms in medicine, as well as on chronic and vascular liver diseases. In his teaching activities, he is involved in undergraduate education in the field of internal medicine.

International collaboration
Jakub Gazda completed a three-month international fellowship as a visiting postdoctoral researcher in 2022 at the Department of Translational and Precision Medicine, Sapienza University of Rome and Policlinico Umberto I. During this stay, he established the foundations of international scientific collaboration with the team of Manuela Merli, primarily focused on complications of liver cirrhosis. He subsequently completed a one-year clinical and research fellowship at the Hepatic Hemodynamic Laboratory, Liver Unit, Hospital Clínic Barcelona and University of Barcelona, where he established international collaboration with the team of Juan Carlos García-Pagán. This collaboration focuses on vascular liver diseases.

Jakub Gazda also maintains a long-standing and close collaboration with the Intelligent Information Systems Lab at the Technical University of Košice, focusing on the identification of clinically relevant problems and the development of solutions enabled by artificial intelligence.
