Assoc. prof. Katarina Dubayova, PhD. works at University of Pavol Jozef Safarik in Kosice, Slovakia, at the Department of Medical and Clinical Biochemistry, Faculty of Medicine. As associate professor, she conducts lectures, seminars and practical exercises for undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students, and actively supervises students with their diploma and dissertation theses. On top of that, she actively works on grant projects. As part of her pedagogical approach, Katarina introduced a new initiative that allows medical biochemistry students to conduct biochemical examinations on fictitious patients, and actively pushes for the implementation of case studies into theoretical teachings of medical biochemistry. Prior to her current role, Katarina joined a diagnostic laboratory, where she headed the department of molecular genetics for several years. In addition to routine diagnostic work, she led research in the field of molecular genetics and medicine, and worked on projects that were funded by the EU Structural Funds. In addition to her teaching and research duties, Katarina is also a member of the General Medicine Study Program Board, Ethics Committee of Pavol Jozef Safarik University in Košice, Slovakia. As part of her continuous scientific research activities, she has long been involved in fluorescence profile analysis of body fluids, and co-authored a solution to the problem of urinary concentration heterogeneity in fluorescence analysis. Katarina is widely regarded as one of the Slovak pioneers in the application of this analysis in diagnostic practice. Her life motto is: "If your job is your hobby, work will always be easy for you.“
