Kristína Kulcsárová, MD, PhD is an Assistant Professor and Independent Researcher at the Department of Neurology, MF UPJŠ and UNLP, as well as at the Department of Clinical Neurosciences within the MediPark Center for Clinical and Preclinical Research. Her research focuses primarily on neurodegenerative and extrapyramidal disorders, especially Parkinson’s disease and its early (prodromal) stages. She is involved in the longitudinal follow-up of research cohorts of patients with idiopathic REM sleep behavior disorder (iRBD) and in the identification of biomarkers with the potential to improve the accuracy and timeliness of Parkinson’s disease diagnosis. She earned her PhD at the FM UPJŠ, with a dissertation dedicated to prodromal biomarkers of Parkinson’s disease. She participates in several national and international research projects, including APVV, VEGA, and the EU JPND-funded LeakyPark project. Dr. Kulcsárová is a member of several scientific and professional groups, such as the MDS COA Prodromal Review Subcommittee, and collaborates internationally with institutions e.g. in Kiel, London, Montreal, and Brescia. In addition to biomarker research, her work also addresses modifiable risk factors for Parkinson’s disease (such as environmental toxins and lifestyle factors) and non-pharmacological interventions in its prevention and treatment. She is a recipient of two awards for scientific publication excellence and is actively engaged in the education of students and young researchers.
