RNDr. Lukáš Smolko, PhD. is working in a position of assistant professor at the Department of Medical and Clinical Biochemistry of Faculty of Medicine UPJS in Košice since 2017. After successful graduation in study programme Inorganic Chemistry in 2012 he began his doctoral studies in the study programme Inorganic Chemistry, during which he completed a study stay in research group focused on bioinorganic chemistry (prof. Dr. Dirk Steinborn) at Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg in 2014. He successfully completed his doctoral studies and defended his PhD. thesis in 2016. His research activities are focused on study of structure of biologically active metal complexes with aromatic ligands as well as analysis of their interaction with nucleic acids and proteins. Since 2012 he has taken part in research projects VEGA and APVV and a co-author of 19 original research papers published in CC journals which have been cited over 140-times (Scopus, HI = 7).
