Doc. RNDr. Marek Stupak, PhD. is an associate professor at the Department of Medical and Clinical Biochemistry, currently in the position of Deputy Head for Education. Since 2021 he is a member of the Board of the Dental Medicine Study Program. He participates in the preparation and conducting of lectures, seminars and practical exercises carried out by the Department of Medical and Clinical Biochemistry. He is a supervisor of diploma and dissertation theses and a member of the commission for state exams. In his scientific work, he has so far focused on the structure and stability of biomacromolecules, mitochondrial and heme proteins. He specializes in methods of protein isolation and the study of their stability and conformational changes, with an emphasis on proteins of respiratory chain. He completed a 9-month research stay at the Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology at Rice University in Houston, where he co-investigated a project dealing with the characterization of proton transfer mechanisms in cytochrome c oxidase. He is the author/co-author of several dozen current and non-current publications. He participates in solving of several projects VEGA, APVV, SF EU.
