prof. Ing. Maria Marekova, CSc. is a professor of biochemistry and head of the Department of Medical and Clinical Biochemistry at the Medical Faculty in UPJŠ in Košice. At the same time, she is the vice-president of the Board for Internal Quality Verification at UPJŠ in Košice. The 10 years guarantees doctoral study program clinical biochemistry in the field of general medicine. She was the supervisor of 13 successfully defended doctoral theses in the clinical biochemistry study program and 19 diploma theses. In the years 2015-2019 she was the vice-rector for higher education at UPJŠ in Košice. As part of her the scientific research intentions, she is studying biomarkers that can be used in laboratory diagnostics of diseases She participates in the solution of several basic and applied research projects. She is the author or. co-author of more than 200 original scientific (106 in CC, WoS or Scopus) and professional papers published in foreign and domestic journals, textbooks, books and monographs, which have been cited more than 800 times in WoS/Scopus citation indexes. She is the co-author of the international patent application PCT / SK2021 / 050004.
