Marta Nemcikova, MSc (specialisation: social work) is a university teacher at the Department of Social and Behavioural Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, UPJS Kosice. She is also an external PhD student at the Trnava University, Trnava, Slovakia. Her primary professional focus is people in older age. Within her PhD thesis focuses on the use of Validation Therapy in informal care. Since 2019 she has been a person responsible for providing social services in a specialized daily social care facility for people with dementia in Kosice. She is a co-founder of a support group for relatives of dementia called Alzheimer Café Košice (www.diakoniakosice.sk).

VEGA no. 1/0372/20 / Use of ecosocial and behavioral interventions in the prevention of the burden of caregivers of people with Alzheimer's disease / researcher


The aim of the research project is to verify the effectiveness of ecosocial and behavioral interventions in preventing the burden of caregivers of people with Alzheimer's disease and to formulate evidence-based recommendations for practice and public social health policy. A series of interventions for professionals and informal carers will be developed based on an analysis of the relationships between demographic, psychosocial and behavioral factors in dementia and their impact on the functional status and quality of life of people with dementia.

IVF. ID 22130093. INHEAL: Innovation in Health Literacy/ riešiteľ


INHEAL seeks to tackle the issue of low levels of health literacy among seniors in the V4 countries. To this end, the project aims to equip the caregivers working directly with seniors with knowledge and tools necessary to educate their pupils in the areas of sensible consumption of health care services in their countries, keeping healthy lifestyles and taking medications, as well as instruct them on the use of the innovative, ICT-based methods of accessing health information and services (such as e-health, m-health, e-receipts and other tools specified by the partners).
