Clinical Psychologist | Researcher | University Teacher Dr. Martina Ružičková is a clinical psychologist and assistant professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice (UPJŠ), where she has been actively engaged in teaching, research, and clinical work since 2003. She completed her PhD at both the Department of Neurology, UPJŠ, and the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands, combining a strong academic foundation with international research experience. She is a licensed clinical practitioner at the University Hospital of L. Pasteur in Košice, and currently serves as Deputy Head of the 1st Department of Psychiatry. Her teaching portfolio includes courses in Clinical Psychology, Medical Psychology, Medical Communication, and Psychotherapy, delivered in both Slovak and English to medical and psychology students. Dr. Ružičková’s research is focused on the intersection of mental health and psychosocial factors, with particular emphasis on schizophrenia and schizotypal personality disorder, mental health in patients with multiple sclerosis, workplace stress and employee well-being. She has contributed to several nationally and internationally funded research projects (e.g. CEEPM 26220120067, APVV-0220-10, APVV-20-03830), working in multidisciplinary teams to explore how psychological resilience, social context, and neuropsychiatric conditions interact. As a reviewer for respected journals such as European Journal of Neurology, Patient Education and Counseling, and Disability and Rehabilitation, she actively contributes to the advancement of psychological science. She has published over 85 scientific works (40 in WoS/Scopus), including peer-reviewed articles, academic books, and conference proceedings, with over 500 citations in Web of Science and Scopus (H-index: 15). Dr. Ružičková is a certified specialist in Clinical Psychology and has training in evidence-based psychotherapies, including: Schema Therapy (certified in individual schema therapy), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) (in certification training), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Relaxation and Symbolic Psychotherapy, Suicide prevention and crisis intervention. Her work bridges academic outcomes and clinical relevance, aiming to integrate the latest psychological insights into real-world therapeutic practice.
