Prof. RNDr. Pavol Švorc CSc., is a professor of physiology at the Department of Medical Physiology UPJŠ FM and at the same time the head of the Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology at the Medical Faculty of the University of Ostrava (LF OU). His research activities are focused on the chronobiology of the cardiovascular and autonomic nervous systems. He is currently analyzing the effect of general anesthesia on these systems depending on sex and the light and dark cycle. He also studies the effects of apnea episodes and reoxygenation on myocardial electrophysiological parameters and autonomic nervous system activity. He is a member of several Study Programme Commissions in study programs focused on physiology and pathophysiology (JLF in Martin, UPJŠ PF) and neurosciences (LF OU). He has coordinated 9 scientific projects and has a rich publishing activity. He is the author of two monographs and 253 scientific and professional works in domestic and foreign journals, for which more than 200 citations have been registered in the renowned databases Web of Science and SCOPUS.
