In 1981 he successfully completed his studies at the University of Veterinary Medicine, Košice, in the general medicine study program. In 1987 he was awarded the CSc. at the SAS, in the field of parasitology-helmintology. In 2005 he habilitated a docent in the field of laboratory investigation methods in health care at the Trnava University. The Professor was awarded in the field of Public Health at the Trnava University in 2008.In 1983-1996 he worked at the Helmintological Institute of Slovak Academy Of Science in Košice, which was later transformed into a Parazitological Institute. In the same period from 1992 to 1998 he was an external teacher at the Faculty of Humanities and Natural Sciences, Prešov. From 1998 to 2004, he continued to work as an external pedagogue at the Institute of Education and Training of Veterinary Surgeons and in 2008-2009 as an external pedagogue at the High School of Health, Prague.He worked in state employment in the Regional Veterinary and Food Administration in Košice in the period 1996-2010. He currently works at the High School of Health and Social Work sv. Elisabeth in Bratislava and at the University of Pavol Jozef Šafárik at the Faculty of Medicine in Košice, where at the Institute of Epidemiology performs pedagogical and scientific research activities. In the framework of scientific research, he is engaged in the research of parasitic infections focusing on parasitozoonoses epidemiology, parasitic infections in chronically ill and immunocompromised patients with basic infectious and non-infectious etiology. Research activity at the Institute of Epidemiology is also focused on the study of selected intracellular pathogens (chlamydia, microsporidia, erlichia, bartonela) in relation to human and animal diseases. He is the author of 387 professional home and foreign publications.
