MUDr. Peter Polan PHD, MPH is the Head of the Department of Musculoskeletal and Sports Medicine of UPJŠ, Košice-Šaca Agel Hospital. The main professional interests consist in primary and revision knee and hip joint endoprosthetics, arthroscopy of weight-bearing joints, sports orthopaedics and traumatology. He completed several internships abroad, in Austria, Czech Republic, Scotland, Italy and USA; participated in the Salzburg Medical Seminars and the EFORT fellowship. He published as the main author and co-author in over 50 domestic and foreign professional periodicals. He was involved in the project of the Slovak Arthroplasty Register (SAR). He is a co-founder and Scientific Secretary of the FIFA Medical Center of Excellence Košice–Šaca (FMCE). Since 2021 he has been a member of the Slovak Orthopaedic and Traumatology Association (SOTA). He is also a member of the Slovak Society for Arthroscopy and Sports Traumatology (SSAST), the Czech Society for Orthopaedics and Traumatology (CSOT), the European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy (ESSKA) and the FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence Košice–Šaca (FMCE). For more than 25 years he has been working as a club and national team physician for the leading Slovak clubs and national teams in handball, basketball and soccer.

Operational Program, call code OPVaIaVA/DP/2016/1.2.1-02 – Functionally graded biomaterials for cartilage tissue regeneration.

IROP Operational Program – Emergency Department and Surgery Center for minimally invasive procedures and a Multifunctional Surgical ICU unit – extension building, reconstruction. Stage 1 – Construction of a new Central Emergency Department for the Košice-Šaca Hospital – the 1st Private Hospital.
