Additional information

International collaboration
The Slovak Republic became part of the international research infrastructure ECRIN (European Clinical Research Infrastructure Network) in 2018. ECRIN is a not-for-profit intergovernmental organisation that supports the conduct of multinational clinical trials in Europe. As of 2013, ECRIN has the legal status of a European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC). ECRIN currently has 9 Member Countries (the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Portugal and Spain) and three Observer Countries (Poland, Switzerland and Slovakia). Each country has a European Correspondent who links the national clinical research network to the ECRIN Core Team and other countries, manages the clinical trial portfolio and coordinates with the national scientific partner with support from the Paris-based Core Team. SLOVACRIN (Slovak Clinical Research Infrastructure Network) is a national research infrastructure network connecting hospitals, universities and scientific institutions involved in academic clinical research and is coordinated by the Faculty of Medicine of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice. SLOVACRIN provides a full service for clinical trials organized by medical researchers. SLOVACRIN supports the preparation and implementation of academic clinical trials in Slovakia, including international trials. The aim is to increase the number and quality of academically initiated clinical trials in Slovakia using available capacities and expertise, knowledge, research and development in the medical sciences. SLOVACRIN provides clinical trial management, regulatory activities, clinical trial monitoring and pharmacovigilance for national and international academic clinical trials. SLOVACRIN supports principal investigators in conducting clinical trials according to Good clinical practice (GCP).
