Selected projects

Name of the international project: Nanoparticles for solving diagnostic and therapeutic problems with COVID 19 (NANOVIR)

YEAR 2021-2022, OPII-VA/DP/2020/9.2-01, (ITMS code: 313011AUW7)

Operating program: Integrated infrastructure 2014-2020

Acronym: NANOVIR

Supported by the fund: European Regional Development Fund

Involved workplaces: Pavel Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice, Institute

of experimental physics of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Košice

Head of project: prof. Ing. Štefan Vilček

Co-investigators: MVDr. Zlatana Sulinová PhD., doc. MVDr. Anna Jacková PhD., MVDr. Alica Pavlová

Goals of the Project:

The NANOVIR will contribute increasing the participation of Slovak research institutions in international research projects aimed at combating pandemics caused by COVID-19 diseases in the form of bilateral support of international scientific cooperation with Aix-Marseille University, France. The subject of the research project is the solution of diagnostic and therapeutic problems of COVID-19 diseases with the use of magnetic nanoparticles.

My role:

Improve the quality of laboratory diagnostics of COVID-19 using new variations of silica-coated magnetic nanoparticles for isolation of viral RNA with subsequent detection by the RT-qPCR method together with effective quality control of smears.

Name of the project: E-learning innovation of teaching Hygiene and public health through online teaching scripts

YEAR 2019, VVGS-2019-1383

Grant scheme: IPEL's internal scientific grant system

Type of project according to the directive: UPJŠ project

Involved workplaces: Institute of Public Health and Hygiene, University of Pavel Jozef Šafárik in Košice

Head of project: Mgr. Jana Diabelková, PhD.

Co-investigators: MVDr. Zlatana Sulinová PhD., Mgr. Andrea Bušová, PhD.

Goals of the Project:

The goal of the project was the creation, application and introduction of a new online teaching aid intended for the study of the subject Hygiene as part of undergraduate and postgraduate education at the Faculty of Medicine of the UPJŠ in Košice. These online the scripts are freely redistributable and present a list of the most important concepts, tutorials, definitions, parameters and abbreviations used in the field of public health. The terms given in the online scripts serve to teach prevention in public health and for teaching in the field of health promotion. Online scripts can also be used in the organization of research for diploma, doctorate and doctoral theses, and they can also be used in clinical studies, because they also contain concepts and abbreviations important in the creation of databases and in statistical evaluations. As part of undergraduate education, e-learning is an important pedagogical part of education in the field of "Public Health".

My role:

- preparation of basic materials and literature (Slovak, Czech and foreign)

- study of basic teaching materials and monographs dealing with the given issue

- searching for important Internet resources, especially on the WHO (World Health Organization) and CDC websites (Center for Disease Control), ÚVZ (Office of Public Health), EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), ILO (International Labor Organization), SHMÚ (Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute), ŠVPS SR (State Veterinary and Food Administration of the Slovak Republic)

- assisting the solver in compiling online scripts

- online availability of scripts for all study programs on the website of UPJŠ and MEFANET

Name of the project: E-learning in the analysis of databases in medicine

YEAR 2018, VVGS-2018-897

Grant scheme: IPEL's internal scientific grant system

Type of project according to the directive: UPJŠ project

Involved workplaces: Institute of Public Health and Hygiene, University of Pavel Jozef Šafárik in Košice

Head of project: doc. MUDr. Kvetoslava Rimárová, CSc.

Co-investigators: MVDr. Zlatana Sulinová PhD., Mgr. Jana Diabelková, PhD.

Goals of the Project: The goal of the project was the creation, application and introduction of new information technologies, methods and models manuals for working with software intended for studying the health and nutritional status of the population within undergraduate education at the UPJŠ Faculty of Medicine in Košice. It was the basis of new information methodologies FREEWARE application of statistical software "Epi-Info", which was developed by CDC (Centre for Disease Control), ECDC (European Center for Disease Control) and WHO (World Health Organization).

My role:

- carrying out a literary review containing our and foreign sources

- exact determination of topics and scope of outputs for individual topics

- creation of a teaching module using free EPI-INFO software for questionnaire self-assessment, assessment and analysis of prepared sample model databases

- introduction and downloading of online software evaluation

- creation of a manual for software in online form for students

- presentation at practical exercises

Name of the project: Molecular genetic characterization of hepatitis E virus in food animals and risks for human population.
