07/19-06/23

Principal investigator

Project is a common project of three universities: UPJŠ in Košice, UCM in Trnava a Techical University in Bratislava. Within the proposed project will be synthesized and studied novel molecular nanomagnets assembled of complexes based on 3d-, 4f- as well as 3d-4f transition metals displaying application potential as new functional materials with defined magnetic, electric, photo-induced and magneto-induced properties.

Principal investigator

Within the quest for new high density data storage media will be studied new complexes containing magnetically active central atoms based on selected 3d- and 4f-metals, or combinations thereof. It is expected that the prepared mononuclear or oligomeric complexes will belong to the class of single-molecule magnets. Analogous complexes exhibiting one-dimensional structures will be studied as candidates of single-chain magnets. Selected complexes mainly that of Gd(III) will be investigated for manifestation of magnetocaloric effect.

MATERIALES MOLECULARES MAGNÉTICOS MULTIFUNCIONALES PARA CONDUCCIÓN EN CRISTALES FLEXIBLES Y CONTROL DE QUIRALIDAD MAGNÉTICA

01/16-12/18

External investigator

The global objective, "study of structure, magnetism and dynamics in new magnetic molecular materials, with emphasis on magnetic chirality, proton transport and smallmolecule mobility," is aimed at five general goals: 1) Molecular magnetism in transition-metal and rare earth compounds; 2) proton transport in non-porous molecular solids; 3) magnetic chirality; 4) magnetic interactions in organic compounds; and 5) multiferroic molecular solids. The pursuit of each of these objectives will consist of two phases, namely the preparation of new molecular solids and the detailed characterization of their physical properties.
