Mariana Kolesárová is an expert in microbiology and the application of molecular methods in the study of microorganisms. She is an assistant professor at the Institute of Biology and Ecology (IBE) and also serves as the head of the Department of Microbiology. She is involved in several basic research projects as well as Interreg projects (EFFUSE, EFFUSE-win).
At IBE, she also serves as an academic advisor for both undergraduate and graduate programs, a course scheduler, and the coordinator for timetable creation at both the faculty and the university. She regularly participates in promotional events such as Open Doors Day, Researchers’ Night, and “A Day in the Life of a College Student,” among others. In the field of occupational health and safety (OHS), she serves as the employee representative at IBE, a member of the OHS committee at the Faculty of Science, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, a member of the fire safety patrol at IBE, and a person professionally qualified to work with highly toxic substances and mixtures as well as toxic substances and mixtures. She is a long-standing member of the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Science at Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, as well as the faculty’s public procurement committee.
