prof. RNDr. Peter Fedoročko, CSc. is a professor of Biology at the Faculty of Science, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice. As part of his research activities, he focuses mainly on experimental oncology. Currently, the research of his laboratory is focused on two broad and complementary research areas: photodynamic therapy of cancer and cancer biology. The second major focus of his laboratory is to study the molecular mechanisms/signal transduction pathways involved in the development and progression of cancer. He is a guarantor of the study programme Molecular Cytology. He was a supervisor of 20 PhD students in study programmes Genetics, Animal Physiology and Molecular Cytology and 18 diploma theses. He is or he was a member of Scientific Boards - Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, Institute of Animal Physiology of Slovak Academy of Sciences, Institute of Neurobiology of Slovak Academy of Sciences and Biomedical Research Center of Slovak Academy of Sciences. He participated in several fundamental and applied research projects. He was the principal investigator of the project „Centres for Research and Teaching Excellence: Centre for Signalome Research“. He is the team leader of top research team „The Research Team of Bioactive Substances for Biomedical Applications (Bioaktiv)“ based on the call of the Accreditation Commission of the Government of the Slovak Republic.
