At the time of developing this description, there were over 70 job positions on the websites advertising vacancies (profesia.sk; jooble.sk; kariera.sk) which the graduates from the Ajm - UAP study programme could apply for. When comparing the number of students admitted (22) and the number of jobs, it is also necessary to take into account the fact that the list of vacancies was made in September - i.e. at a time when most of the graduates already have a job and the job positions are filled. This factor must be taken into account especially in teaching positions, of which there were 15 of them out of the total number of vacancies. According to the State Educational Programme, the subject of English Language belongs among the general education subjects and, together with the teaching subject of Slovak Language and Literature a language of a national minority and literature form the educational field of Language and Communication. Depending on the type of school and the level of education, it makes 1 to 5 hours per week. Special attention should be paid to bilingual schools in this evaluation, where a graduate of Ajm - UAP is able to teach the second subject of their combination in English. From this point of view, graduates have a very ample employment, as shown in paragraph 3b). Overall, we evaluate the employability of graduates as very good, while graduates are able to cover a standard teaching load at a standard school.

The workplace has many years of experience with double diplomas. Introduction and implementation of double diploma programmes in the field of study of Non-Slavic Languages and Literature was first at the level of doctoral studies. Later, double diplomas were also introduced at the Master's level. Intensive cooperation takes place mainly with the Universitat de les Illes Balears, Spain (1 graduate from the DBAS FA UPJŠ and 2 graduates from the UIB) and since 2017 with the Yuri Fedkovich National University in Chernivtsi, Ukraine (1 graduate from the DBAS FA UPJŠ and 3 graduates from the YFNUC).
Completion of the double-major or interdisciplinary Bachelor's study in the study programme of Teacher Training and Education Science is the basic precondition for admission to the Master's study in the study programme of Teacher Training and Education Science at FA UPJŠ in full-time form. If the number of applicants exceeds the capacity of the Master's study programme, admission will be granted to those applicants with higher overall results from their bachelor's studies. For the graduates of the Bachelor's study programme graduating from different universities in the programme of Teacher Training and Education Science, the approval of the Dean of the FA UPJŠ that the completed Bachelor's study programme is sufficiently compatible with the study programme of Teacher Training and Education Science at the Bachelor level at FA UPJŠ (at least 3/5 of the content representing the core of the study programme) is another precondition for admission.
Zásady prijímacieho konania na štúdium (Principles of Admission Procedures at UPJŠ, the document is not available in English) are defined by the basic legislative starting points and general principles according to which a reliable, fair, and transparent admission procedure for study programmes carried out at UPJŠ at the 1st, 2nd, the combined 1st and 2nd, and at the 3rd levels of higher education. Information on the admission procedure at UPJŠ is published on the website:
• https://www.upjs.sk/en/information/prospective-students/admissions/
Detailed conditions regarding admission to study programmes at the Faculty are published on the website: https://www.upjs.sk/en/information/prospective-students/
The summary of the results of the admission procedure for the academic years 2016/17-2021/22:
• structured analysis of the admission procedure at the UPJŠ FA: Indikátory hodnotenia kvality na FF UPJŠ (Assessment of Quality Indicators at Faculty of Arts, UPJŠ, the document is not available in English).
Information on the process of monitoring and evaluating student satisfaction at the University is published at: : https://www.upjs.sk/en/university/Internal-system-evaluation-quality/study-programmes/#10
Quality indicators and results of quality monitoring at UPJŠ and its constituents are publicly available at: https://www.upjs.sk/en/university/Internal-system-evaluation-quality/indicators/.
Procedures for monitoring and evaluating students' opinions on the quality of the study programme are carried out in two forms: direct communication with the Head of the Department and a questionnaire. Students may express their opinion by filling out a questionnaire in the Academic Information System (AiS2). The results are presented to the Faculty management and published on the Faculty website in section https://www.upjs.sk/en/faculty-of-arts/internal-system-evaluation-quality/. If deficiencies are found by the teacher, the Faculty management will invite the teacher concerned for a meeting. Determining and verifying the authenticity of a warning is, according to its severity, handled in accordance with the applicable legislation.
Experience shows that students prefer communication with the teacher over the anonymous questionnaire or with the head of the workplace.
The University informs on the results of the evaluation of the quality of educational activities on its website: https://www.upjs.sk/en/university/Internal-system-evaluation-quality/surveys/26217/
Specific measures to increase the quality of the study programme based on the results of the surveys are listed in the minutes of the study programme board meetings, which are archived in the monitoring panel of the SP in the AiS2.
Feedback from students is part of the negotiations at the Board of the Study Programme. The information obtained is processed and subsequently finds its reflection in the improvement of the study programme both in terms of content and form.
The Alumni Club was officially established at the Department of British and American Studies in 2017 as a platform for communication and networking between graduates from the Department, members of the Department, and current students. In fact, cooperation with graduates from the Department has been working since its inception, as evidenced by the number of lectures, workshops, internships for students, interpreting and translation, and other forms of cooperation. One of the first examples is in the cooperation with the educational agency SUVKO Coaching in Košice under the guidance of the English language graduate for European institutions and economics, Mgr. Matúš Draganovský (2014) or the cooperation with the regional director of the American Chamber of Commerce, Mgr. Martin Mudrák (2014), and the executive director of the Academy Language Institute, Mgr. Michal Orosz (graduate from the DBAS in 2012). The most successful graduates from the Department regularly participate in promotional activities of the Department in order to explain and show potential applicants, but also current students, how they can really employ in life. For example, in 2019, during the Alumni Day, former graduates from the Department presented their lectures in the field of their professional activity: Mgr. Andrea Petrovčínová, author and copywriter, Catacombs, studios and roof of the new hospital, Creative Industry Košice, Mgr. Ivana Rusnáková, gallerist, production and project manager, Art is Also Work, daddy, VUNU Gallery Košice, Bc. Marek Sabo, language game programmer, Bc. Kristína Makóová, UPJŠ European Career Ambassador, Mgr. Slavomíra Hrabovská, Summer Work and Travel USA with Information Planet and many others.
In 2019, during the Covid 19 pandemic, we were forced to enter the online mode of cooperation with graduates and we established the Masterclass scheme - We Learn from the Best during which students have several workshops, for example with Mgr. Timea Krauszová (Refresher) and Mgr. Andrea Petrovčínová (Creative Industry Košice) on topics such as creative writing, content writing, copywriting, and translation. In the 2021/22 academic year, we are planning to continue these workshops e.g. with a graduate from the Department, Mgr. Mária Duffeková, from the Promiseo Agency, or Mgr. Strihová's team working as a manager for Digital Europe in Brussels. During the Covid 19 pandemic, we introduced our potential students, as well as current students, to the work of graduates in a series of online interviews with, for example, Mgr. Richard Peter, Mgr. Patrik Kondáš, Mgr. Emese Koteles, Mgr. Juraj Majcher, Mgr. Katarína Rybárová, Mgr. Martin Mudrák, Mgr. Martina Jesenská, Mgr. Romana Grajcarová, Mgr. Roberta Erdyová, who are available on youtube. The added value of these activities is that we also involve selected secondary schools in Košice, where graduates from the Department also work as English language teachers, which allows us to communicate even better. We connect the members of the Alumni Club with the help of social networks, but above all the LinkedIn platform, where we may trace their professional careers. Of course, personal meetings are certainly more pleasant and we are already planning the fourth meeting of the DBAS alumni in the spring of 2022.
The culmination point of this cooperation is the establishment of a new course called Skills for Success - from University to Practice which was created thanks to the cooperation of the Department of British and American Studies with graduates from this Department and offers a set of communication tools for recent graduates entering practice.
This way of connecting practice with the academic milieu has proven to be one of the most effective and constructive ways to communicate the mission of the Department, the theoretical content of the relevant courses with the real requirements of practice. However, we also create attractive networking for the graduates themselves, who thus have the opportunity to better connect their professional interests, but also to continue their education even after completing their studies.
The University and its Faculties carry out questionnaire surveys on the employment of University graduates with the aim of improving the profile of the graduate, closer connection of studies with practice, and improving the position of graduates in the labour market. Information on monitoring graduate feedback may be found at: https://www.upjs.sk/en/university/Internal-system-evaluation-quality/study-programmes/#7 .
The currently effective rules, periodicity, and methodology of the questionnaire surveys are described on the website: https://www.upjs.sk/en/university/Internal-system-evaluation-quality/study-programmes/#10.
Specific conclusions from questionnaire surveys conducted at the level of the University, Faculty or units for the relevant study programme are documented in the minutes of the Study Programme Board. The minutes are archived in the monitoring panel of the study programme in the AiS2.
All the information on study programmes, which provide an overview of the relevant internal regulations, fees or student loans, is available to the public and regularly updated on the following website: https://www.upjs.sk/en/university/Internal-system-evaluation-quality/study-programmes/#7
