The field of Habilitation and Inauguration in Physics is determined by the study of living and non-living matter from the microscopic and sub-microscopic level, through the study of macroscopic systems, to the study of planets, galaxies, and the Universe in the broadest possible sense. The subject of the study is the origin and structure of matter, its static, dynamic, and energetic manifestations and properties. In addition, experimental and theoretical methods of classical and quantum physics are widely applied in related research fields such as chemistry, biology, medicine, and computer science, but also in the social and economic sciences.

The field of Habilitation and Inauguration in Physics is determined by physical disciplines such as theoretical and celestial mechanics, electromagnetic field theory, statistical physics, mathematical physics, atomic and quantum physics, condensed matter and materials physics, low-temperature physics, phase transition theory and critical phenomena, computer physics, special and general theory of relativity, quantum field theory, nuclear and subnuclear physics, plasma physics, elementary particle physics, astronomy, astrophysics, and biophysics.
